Heading out to go to camp for 4 days, just not looking forward to the 3 1/2 drive. That's why they make red bull

 

3.5 hour drive? That's cake.

HA!!!! These drunk driven basterds don't know who they are messing with, I keep a spare mail box just in case of an impact.


This is the 4th mail box in 12 years.

 

I don't miss those days! I used to live on Trooper Rd just off of 422 and I lost 5 mailboxes in as many years. It was so frustrating I eventually gave up and dry stacked CMU blocks with a mailbox sitting on top of it. Anytime someone hit it after that I just stacked them back up and knocked the dent out of the mailbox.

 

Mailbox chronicles:

First year, (middle of nowhere) the snow banks got so high the town used a loader to push them back and hit my mailbox with the backhoe, knocking it off. -- solution: attached mailbox really well to the pole

Second year, backhoe flattened mailbox, it stayed on the pole just fine... ^^brilliant idea^^

Third year, summer: hear a BOOM, investigate, call town cop and tell him "someone blew up my mailbox" his reply "damn, that's the third one today", he did come up to look, said it was probably a 1/4 stick

Forth year, allowed to move mailbox from end of dead end road to in front of the house

24 years later the same loosely attached mailbox is still out there on the pole

 

I hate to like this because of the make work for you -- however your attitude about it made me laugh out loud -- I have never heard someone say "I keep a spare mailbox" before

 

I rode by last night and that mailbox was fine,@8:30 pm

 

I think most people just drive to Home Depot or Lowe’s and buy a new one, but to each their own.

I remember when I was young how my dad (retired state trooper) would tell me about how he would investigate mailbox vandalism when it was reported. I guess things were a lot slower back then on the crime scene because I can’t imagine any police department actually doing more than taking and filing a report these days.

 

@Mobtown Offroad high-clearance off-road bumper with swing out dropped off at Bonehead Performance Coatings for powdercoat. Should be ready for pickup in 2-3 weeks. Ordered it on November 11, 2020 - what's a couple more weeks?!?
