Steering Wheel Conundrum

    Those directions say the lower ball joint carrier is 166 ft/lb.
    That’s 40% over the FSM spec of 118 ft/lb.
    If you use Loctite, you will probably be closer to 50% over.
    The FSM didn’t say to use it, and I didn’t on mine?


    Does it matter?
    Probably not on those.

    Whoever wrote the installation instructions probably didn’t have a FSM.
    And the 250 ft/lb recommendation? Wow, that was definitely not right.

    Completely agree, getting ready to do a complete front end rebuild next week (Steering Rack w/ES Poly Bushings, LCA w/Whiteline bushings, Taco tabs, etc.) when I saw the OP torque values I double checked the installation instructions provided in my Taco Tab kit and the Torque values had been upgraded.
