Maybe GPS is working without being connected to an antenna at all, and I need toswitch wires?

Doubtful it's the factory mic. That is an amplified mic that won't work directly with our radios. Are you running GPS off the HU itself or via carplay? I honestly never use the radio much out of carplay since the tether always disconnects.

I'm at work. When I get home I'll get bottom of it. If I'm connected to the wrong wire the only thing that I can think of is that it's getting reception despite not being hooked to the antenna. Nothing advertised on this unit as being Built-in.(And, of course, the physical connection is there as well) (marked GPS)

    @nudavinci64

So the GPS was working fine hooked up to what turned out to be the XM antenna cable.
Funny, I probably could have left it there...
    It's right now, though.

    @svermilyea

Thanks for pointing to the right wire. I was simply in a moment of denial with the GPS functioning what appeared to be properly.

Def interesting it was using the sharkfin which makes sense to some degree. I don't have one so was curious how that was working.

So after initial satisfaction, mine is a dud.
Initially everything was running 100%, but by the end of day two the screen had become almost completely unresponsive and when it did respond, it was in a nonsensical manner. Keys being pressed didn't correlate to what would appear on the screen. For some icing on the cake, it was constantly opening Google Maps (on it's own, mind you) and running random searches akin to the following. gj;fdlgkjfa;glkafjg';aglja'g;lj
Restarts, resets, etc. had no effect.

Needless to say, I'm glad spent the extra coin for the security of ordering from Amazon.
I have a replacement arriving Friday. If that doesn't pan out, I guess I'll come off another $500 and click on that Pioneer thread I've been avoiding..

SO an update, should anyone actually give a damn. :)
Amazon's replacement arrived in short order. With the work already done, I just popped the old one out, the new one in, and to date all is well.
Here's to hoping this one will give me a couple years of it's time for my efforts..

@svermilyea I contacted Iris in regards to the screen protector. She informed me I needed to order the their 9" screen protector to fit my 10" screen properly. Unable to believe that could possible be true and something must have been lost in the one sentence translation, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the one you directed me to. It's a TIGHT fit, but there's not going to be anything closer without going undersize.
    Thanks again

I don't know if anyone is still buying these head units, but anyone looking for a non-matte glass screen protector, this is it.
It's a tight fit. In fact, looking at the pictures, I'd say it's fair to say it's actually a little oversized. If you're off at all with the application, in any direction, it gonna be bad.

Pics for reference. All four corners look the same.

^ This is interesting, in as much as my phone launches Android Auto when I get anywhere near my truck, and certainly before I plug it into the USB.
My head unit however, doesn't 'appear' to support AA wireless. Like yours, my Dasaita isn't / wasn't sold or advertised as supporting AA wireless. Given the fact I didn't pay for it, and I also prefer to plug my phone in, vs Qi wireless charging, I don't feel I'm missing anything. Nonetheless interesting that it's working for you.

Did you get your wifi sorted?

Quirks aside, I'm loving my (replacement unit) to date.

Just finished my Joying install. Still have to figure out how to install the ahd camera I purchased thre them.

So far everything I was worried about, was for nothing:
Every button I played with works.
Radio reception is better than stock.
Radio sounds 10x better and goes alot louder.
Steering controls work perfectly after mapping.
    Fits perfectly flush.

So far I love it, looks awesome.20210702_201601.jpg

One thing I noticed was that after a couple bottles of installation lubricant, it sounds even better and the smile is spontaneous. Enjoy.

Yes, the antenna had fallen off completely. I must have cross threaded it and thought it was tight when it wasn't even close lol. I'm now tethering to my s21 using Bixby to auto start hotspot when BT connects. Took 30 seconds to set that up, and I'm really liking using pure Android without nag screens. Also using Agama launcher to make it less clunky.

Glad you got the wifi sorted and didn't lose the antenna into the abyss that swallowed my 10mm socket.

Specifically due to this head unit, I for the first time gave Bixby a 72 hour trial run.
I must have a terrible lisp and the world has been too polite to let me know about it.
Assuming I could use hand signals, I'd have a better shot communicating with someone speaking Mandarin Chinese.

Just downloaded Tasker to handle the wifi automation.

Crazy, spent an hour trying to get the sound to play with Android auto and Amazon music. (joying )

I give up,,unplug the usb from my phone and the joying and my phone have sound now.

I thought it didn't even have wireless android auto.

I think I've read this thread a couple times at this point and don't remember this question coming up.

What settings, if any will you lose on this head unit during a battery swap or disconnect?

I'm not fully satisfied with my ground, but at the same time, if I'm going to undue things I've spent time getting right, I think I can sleep at night the way it is..

    TIA.

I have disconnected the battery on many occasions and never lost any settings. The only thing I recognize upon reconnecting the battery is that the HU will perform the full startup with the android splash screen. After the initial reboot, it returns to the fast boot behavior. You should be good to go.
