“Agreed value” insurance is a thing. It’s very much worth the extra on modified vehicles

Just be sure it's not the detonator switch instead.

As @OpeCity stated, you can actually get better insurance. But like classic cars or other high-value vehicles, it's probably from a specialty carrier or you have to ask around as most agents probably aren't even aware they offer it. It also more than likely costs more than most people are willing to spend, which is ironic given how much money we all throw at our trucks.

a reed switch behind a bumper or body panel would be pretty simple and efficient.

It’s actually pretty reasonable on top of normal insurance. For instance, my $55k race car policy is only $1200/year. A $15-20k agreed value policy on a Tacoma would probably be really manageable

I would remind you that you literally have +14VDC on open terminals in your fuel tank for your pump. Just solder and heatshrink everything and you'd be safe.

was just talking about that with someone. of course their example the truck got stolen and the neighbor next to me had his truck stolen out of the driveway 2 days ago. Cant have nice things anymore. Now been parking the other car in front of the drive way so at least they cant drive off. less worried about stealing stuff off of it but would suck to have the entire truck stolen.

Yea… my list grows and never shrinks.
    66 Mercedes, 01,02 tacomas, 05 tundra, 06 Avalon, 09 corolla..

And now it’s looking like a 98 Tacoma will be joining the stable
