Hi guy's new here and this is my 1st thread. I didn't realize til after the fact I have owned all 3 Gen's of the Tacoma. I had a basic 1982 4x4, and I still have a 1998 2 wheel drive Tacoma with 421,600 on the clock. These are hard, hard miles, and now we have a 2021 TRD Sport, cement. We were very lucky to get it as we had to go to another state since there aren't any available it was the only one they had.

I have spent a lot of time looking at side step. I liked the drop down ones as ground clearance isn't an issue for me. I have bad knees and climbing up onto the side step seems like pain in the future rather then just keep sliding on the seat to get out. It just doesn't seem like the truck is high enough for the drop down step. I saw a video the other day where the side step(not a drop down step) kinda stuck out too far and your legs scraped on it on the way out. What have you guy's experienced and what works good.

Does your new trd sport come with raptor steps? They seem pretty low compared to any other type of side step. I am not a fan of how they look though

1982 would have been the "Pickup" unless I am mistaken. The '98 was a 1st gen.
Anyway, yes the normal "steps" are too high and just get your pant-legs dirty.

Thanks for the responses, wow that powerstep is something else. My truck doesn't come with a raptor step. It's more for appearance as it just looks unfinished without something there.

I have the OEM 5-inch oval step on my truck. I don't step up into the seat with it but I do push off of it with my left leg once I'm on the seat to finish positioning. No problems getting out. I looked at the power step also, for about 2 min till I saw the price LOL

I ran a set of N-fab running boards on my 07 taco for a long time. I never had a problem with them. They were a single tube that ran the length of the cab and then a hoop step attached to i ur at each door. May be something to look into

    Hi, welcome

I am not familiar with raptor step. If we mean Predator step bar I love mine, my whole family uses them. My truck is lifted 3 inches, but even before my wife and 12 year old used the step.

Same. I am lifted and have little legged people use my truck. Predators work well since I am not hardcore OR'ing my truck.

I have the Nfab Epyx steps on a stock height Taco OR. Love them, both the looks and functionality. They do stick out a bit but that is actually a plus for me. Once you get in and out of the truck a couple times you never notice again. I highly recommend them.
