How do you get the lettering off the tailgate?

Was just wondering if the lettering on the tailgate was just stuck on there or if i take it off will i leave a bunch of tiny holes where it was attached? I've seen some of you guys with blank tailgates and i like the look. lots sleeker.

One of the things the guys on the motorcycle forums do to remove tank lettering is to heat it with a blowdryer and then use fishing line to slip behind the piece.

 

I just removed my emblems this weekend. I used a heat gun and fishing line.
I then used a little rubbing alcohol to take off any left over adhesive.
Then buffed and waxed the area. It took me about 45 mins to do the whole truck.

 

dental floss also works well, it almost slices through the adhesive because its thin but pretty strong

I've used it a few times to remove badging

 

never would have thought of dental floss. thanx guys i'mma have to try that out this weekend
