DeWalt Tools

I believe the micro-controller is in the battery pack not the tool. DeWalt sells, and I own, an 18V to 20V adapter. The 18V tools for sure don't have any micro-control over when they shut down yet DeWalt is fine with you using 20V batteries in them. J

Maybe I missed it up thread, but imma spread some love for the rotary hammer: DCH293. 400 bucks bare, so not cheap, but when you're banging concrete in a crawlspace, you'll appreciate cutting the cord. On paper and in hand, this hits harder than my corded Bulldog. With a chuck adapter, you can spin long auger bits with ease. It has a clutch, so won't rip your arm off when the big holesaw catches. Chips like a champ. Not so heavy that you can't use it overhead (but nicer when you let the tool and gravity do the work...)

 

Yup twice so far mostly 1”-2 1/2” limbs did a pretty good job

It’s not. Ryobi is the only brand I can think of that has the BMS in the battery. Dewalt has some cell balancing in the pack but the rest of the management is done by the tool.

My experience with a knockoff was worse and then they blew juice all over. Nasty.

 

Finally got tired of my heavy 18v batteries that don't hold a charge so I ordered the 20v MAX XR Brushless combo kit DCK483D2. Just the standard brushless drill/driver/saw set. Nice set of tools, the circular saw is a sexy beast. The flashlight seems pretty cheesy but so did the one in my last tool set and I ended up using the shit out of it.

DCA1820 so I can continue to use my old set of tools. It snaps in nice and tight, my old sawzall seems more powerful on the 20v battery.

I bought the 20v MAX XR chainsaw but am returning it - the box was completely destroyed, someone tried to open it up and steal the battery. Apparently the morons couldn't read that is a bare tool. Bought it on a whim anyway and have plenty of other chainsaws, just thought the battery one would be cool. I probably should get the 60v FlexVolt version instead.

What other 20v tool gems do I need to buy?
And who has the best deal on 5ah (and bigger) batteries?

Still need to find some 5ah (or bigger) batteries but they are either out of stock or $$$, doesn't seem like there are any sales to be had right now.

I just ordered the $70 XPS light kit for my DWS779 miter saw. Looking forward to the added advantage of seeing the kerf.

 

Just discovered this thread of fellow yellow-team fans. Will post my small collection once I'm home to take a pic.

Currently in the market for the new DCST972X1 60v attachment capable string trimmer, but none of the attachments seems to be available yet. So I've been holding off buying until I can get one of the attachment bundles, but its been months now, and even the dewalt reps to local tool suppliers seem to be in the dark. Mostly interested in the hedge trimmer and pole saw. Any insider info @jowybyo ?





Also going to get the DCBL772 blower to quickly blow off front walk, patios and driveway pad just waiting on a sale/bundle. My guess is the blower attachment for the string trimmer wouldn't be nearly as powerful.

 

I recently added their grease gun to my collection, along with a lockNlube tip. Now I have no excuse to be lazy with zerk maintenance.

I have that blower and it's awesome. Only thing I'd add is a lock off button, as it gets turned on in the back of my vehicle every once in a while. (There's both a trigger and a separate throttle lever.) Now that I'm writing this, it occurs to me that I should take a look at it to see if I can just remove the throttle lever.

 

Anybody have the 20V cordless wet/dry vac? Thinking about getting one for minor cleanups in interior jobs.

 

I have the smaller one. It's not bad, but not a super sucker either. It's the rectangular looking one. Unsure of model #.

You are not gonna suck much unless you have 120V/240V 20A+.

 

I've got the DCV581H (cord or battery; I never use the cord), and it's pretty darn good for light spot cleanup. If you had to do an entire room or suck up grinder dust it would be terrible, but for what it does, I'm happy. (It's especially nice for end of day staircase cleaning in carpeted apartments... no hunting around for outlets; no pissing off the other tenants with the shriek of a regular shopvac.)

 

Your model actually looks better than the new smaller one. I just installed a rail going up a staircase and the mess kinda sucked to clean up.

On another note, the 18v to 20v adapter is awesome. I'll probably end up with a few more down the road.
