I got a similar truck but with 4x4 and more add ons with ttl for 39.8 total, you can do better than that deal I think if you are patient and call around.

Thank you, for the input. I’m new to the forum and researching this thread for insight. I’ve always been a Lexus guy on the forums, but haven’t been active like I used to be. Forgot that I love how you can learn so much from the Forums.

I am being patient, but really considering the 2022 and ordering online because I don’t want to deal with the disgusting dealers

I think the biggest thing is seeing what the market is like and knowing where you are comfortable spending and then seeing how far you can work the dealers back. In prep I watched a bunch of youtube vids like auto advocates to help me make a strategy then I worked 5 dealers at once.

The ideal scenario the way I see it is to have a daily beater to get you through the end of the year and sell the trade now. Sell high, buy lower (hopefully).

2021 TRD OR Double Cab Manual in Army Green. $38,450 Was scheduled to be delivered to dealer in mid august, but got a call yesterday saying it's coming in on Tuesday. Couldn't be more excited! I sold my f150 two weeks ago bc dealer trade offer was garbage(got $4k more by selling private party). Paying MSRP. Haven't even tried to haggle the price down any. Couldn't find a premium with the MT, but dealer is installing katzkin, which turns out to be better bc I didn't really want all the tech or sunroof anyways. Stoke level is high. Wife is already sick of hearing me talk about lift kits and toppers.

For those of you who have put down the $500-1,000 deposits, how does the timing of that work? Like is this after you speak with the finance department?

Only made the trip to one dealer so far, and it was a very informal visit as I’m planning on waiting for the ‘22’s.

New to the Tacoma World forum and thanks for the loads of information!

I put a deposit down on a 2021 TRD OR DCSB with mudguards, tonneau cover, and all-weather liners. MSRP was $39,822 with a sale price of $38,300. OTD is going to be $41,448 ($125 doc fee, $40 registration, $494 license, $2,489 MN Tax). Do you guys think that is still pretty high for being close to the new 2022 models? TYIA!

I worked the deal then put deposit down (500) and then when the truck came in I went in. I had own financing but upon pickup is when I would have done it at the dealer.

No hood scoop, 2020+ oem grille, yellow / blue Bilstein shocks (not FOX), wrong rims. Hilarious that the dealer is listing it as a PRO, hopefully someone does not buy it thinking it's a real one.

They are ripping you off for certain items. Toyota list for the Tubes, $469.00 - Mud Guards, $129.00 -
Black Outs, $160.00. Protection Pkg - $359.00, do not need it, more bullshit.
If I were you I would shop in a 500 mile radius of your home. You probably know, tax is paid on the difference of the trade, buy without trade, pay the full boat.

I went to Rockingham Toyota in Salem NH. They were fair, at MSRP but not adding extra (IRA Toyota tried to add a 10,000 marketing adjustment FLEECING!!)

I noticed this!! I didn’t even realize I could haggle it down. I would’ve regretted not getting a 4x4 as well. Thank you!

This doesn’t sound right. If the truck was allocated to your dealer no one else could have bought your Taco unless your dealer made the decision to ignore your deposit and sell to someone else. If it wasn’t allocated to your dealer you really had no right to it over the dealer that it was allocated to in the first place. If you are not purchasing a truck that is truly allocated to your dealer, you really have no guarantee of getting anything.

2021 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4wd Double Cab in Cement. MSRP $40,420.

Paid $35,200ish plus taxes and fees came out to $37,500. Plus got the cast aluminum running boards thrown in ($795)

Biggest regret is not paying an extra $800 for the technology package but I got impatient and didn't want to wait any longer. Overall I fell like I got a pretty good deal.

Right, this was allocated to the dealer. They pulled a shady move and sold it for more than my price. I won’t put down the names I dealt with at the dealer.

awesome deal!!! Not sure if tech package is really worth it if you plan to go off road and replace the rear bumper for off road stuff
