Light Bar Design Help

Hello, I would like to build a light bar for my 99 taco, perhaps something like the Defiant ones.

One thing troubling me is where do these light bars attach to the frame at? If anyone has a pic of how they bolted their bar to their truck that'd be great to see.

Also, what size/type of pipe is usually used? Something like 1 - 1.5 inch?

Would it be bad to bolt the light bar mount between the frame and the recovery point?

 

trying to bring this thread back from the dead but did you ever get an answer. i had talked to a friend of a friend about it a while back i i think he mentioned something about it mounting onto that hook under the front skid

 

No, I did not get an answer. My plan is to bolt it up between the recovery points and the frame. The 99's seem to be difficult to work with. I haven't made much progress on it yet because I don't have the materials readily available. *I also don't have a pipe bender, but I can probably work around that problem*

 

I have a brushguard on mine and it looks like that bar mounts to the same points on the frame as the side supports of my brushguard do. I also have a 99.
I can snap a few pictures if you need.

Not the best pictures in the world but the little bracket goes through the lower grill and attaches to the top of the frame. And that bolt that's holding the bracket to the frame comes up from the bottom all the way through the frame (which you can kind of see in the first picture)

 

It looks like you have that same bolt going through your frame (to the right of the circle)
