What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

For my last couple of car loans I have been going to my local CU because they have had amazing rates as low as 1.5% . Car dealers will usually run your credit through a bunch of lenders which could potentially hurt your credit in the short term because of the credit inquiries. I've also found out (IMO) that it may be easier to negotiate a good deal if you go in with your own approval as you are literally paying cash. In my case, I have gone to the dealer, made the deal (numbers), and asked them for a "purchase order" for the bank to cut me a check and bring it back to the dealer. It makes the transaction so much faster and easier.

 

I just saw that they have console covers and dash inserts. Looks like im ordering more to get it all to match!

 

I re-located my inverter button to the center, under the HVAC controls, and installed an OEM look LED bar button in its place.

 

I might have to do that. maybe I'll see if my sales guy is in tomorrow or Monday and go talk numbers with him, so that I have it.

I too would like to know how you accomplished the inverter switch relocation. I assume cut and splice in extensions to the wire with solder or butt connectors?

I haven't located a wire-to-wire male plug compatible with the female one but if you have please share

 

I did in fact, cut each wire in the harness, and extend them a couple feet. I soldered each connection, worked great. I made sure to cut the wires about 3 inches from the plug itself to ensure I had plenty of wire on the plug side.

 

Cool, thanks. If I ever manage to get my LSP-8 installed I'm likely to take that approach as well.

The only other option I can see is something like:

1. Take a good photo of the female connector and wire colors
2. De-pin the female connector
3. Fabricate male to female extensions of proper length (42-45") assuming male terminals are available (I think this is the case)
4. Purchase terminal compatible wire-to-wire connectors (I believe this one is TE) of 5-8 positions
5. Match colors and install pins.

Though to go that far might be better off with just some generic 5-8 pin connectors, cut and crimp so you now have a short conversion pigtail, then do an extension in the easier-to-find connectors with color matched wires to get it to the LSP. That way you can undo later on and not have extra wire coiled.

The in-truck crimping being the only annoying part but at least it's a one time deal.

I think I'd be mildly tempted to use the green JST switch plugs since I have them and they go to 5 positions, IIRC only 5 of the 8 spots are used on the inverter switch.

Of course I have yet to find any reason at all for 120v so this is all just pure fun and games. I thought it might be nice for someone in the rear seat using a laptop someday.

Not quite sure what you mean by "flush". At least 1/3 of each plug has to be available to connect together.
I routed mine out of the front with enough lead to allow a portable winch (inserted into the front hitch) to be connected. When not in use, the plug is secured flat against the grill.
I simply remove the pin to free the plug to reach the winch, when needed.
(I have an in-line switch so that no one can short out my battery by jumping across the plug connectors.)
But flat against the grill is prolly not what you meant by flush.

Alignment

 

I want to mount one on my rear bumper or side of the front bumper so I can more easily jump start (others). So I'm looking for something like this:
But I cannot seem to find any in larger than SB50 sizes - which I feel is too small to handle jump loads.

 

Love the bedside decal. I bet that was a PITA to put on straight!!
