Idk if a cap would be the route I'd take with that. It looks like pure cancer. I'd be weighing the options between tube rear, new frame, or chopping and putting in boxed rails.

Talking with friends around town they know some welders that are supposed wizards in the area. I may see what they would recommend. If it's more issues than it's worth I may just offload it. Hate to say that...

Regular cabs are a dying breed, it'd be really sad to see it go. There's one still for sale in CO though for 8k. It's a beast built for offroad but if that's what your into, might be worth a gander. I linked it a few pages back.

Over in the Nissan forums the D21 guys buy stuff from companies like that all the time to keep their frames going.

I'm guessing there's a Jay Wolfe Toyota in KC? Cuz there's also one out here off Manchester

Oof, right in the childhood. I remember our family vacations to Branson, the Ozark mountains, Hot Springs, and Beaver Lake really well. Are Duck Boats still a thing, or have they been cancelled because people die on them sometimes?

I believe they're currently in the canceled status. Although there's plenty of private ownership and a lot of places still have them so who knows.

    Neat, will there be fire?
They said nothing was wrong and didn't do the frame coating? I'm pretty sure that might be on them if there is documentation.

One sinks in a friggin nader and they shut down. I tried to buy one shortly after but they were still stupid expensive.

Welp. No dice with the dealer. Joe was nice in looking for something we could do. Recommended I take it to a welder and see what I can do. Probably the only option at this point. What a mess...

The good news is that there are a lot of good welders around here. Some more expensive than others, but there are options.

And a good news is a lot of these frames are sectionalized you can take out the bad parts and just replace them instead of having to get an entire new frame assembly

Makes me feel a bit better. I honestly don't want to get rid of this truck. Hope it's not asking too much to get this fixed.

What is too much is ultimately up to you. Would you rather spend a few grand getting this fixed? Or spend 20 grand on some used beat up taco because the market is nucking futz right now?
