Doing pretty good! For how slow they wear they have more traction than anticipated, but they will be coming off in the next few weeks now that my Krawlers showed up.

French some 62” deavers meant for the Tacoma. Not some clapped out springs meant for a 1/2 ton truck

What does frenching a leaf mean? A Google search returned nothing.

Remember my forward mount. You take that and suck it up into the frame so that it is a smooth transition and can't tell there is a mount there. Like frenching a taillight.

Depends what you want to do. After some time with 63s (I bought new ones) and a lot more research I would french the 63s change my rear hanger set up and custom order a set of springs from alcan. Depends what you want though. With SOA you're going to loose up travel for me that's not a huge deal I can still get the up travel I want with more droop. If you're going to be going fast and jumping and stuff definitely SUA and the deavers. There is an argument about GC with the 2 different styles.

unless you are going to box that entire length of the frame frenching is a really bad idea IMO, that is the weakest part of our frames

It is especially with making it structurally sound being an integral part of the fame with clearances for the springs to move. You can make it look frenched by creating ramps to the mount and gusseting the mounts better.

I honestly didn’t know. I just thought he meant squeezing in some 63” leafs. As in moving the front mount and doing a new shackle and hanger. Didn’t know it was supposed to be something different.

I was in your same shoes about a year ago. I went the stock spring route with 6.5in shackle. Then i was able to get some free deaver j66 springs. The j66 springs ride really well, but they axle wrap. My goal for the truck was to ride better and get more travel. I wasnt concerned about weight, as i maybe have 200lbs in the bed when wheeling, 130 of it is the spare. Ive heard issues of axle wrap on the 63s aswell, so depending on your springs you will most likely need a traction bar. If your gonna haul alot of weight, then the 63s are probably better for you. But if your lightweight majority of the time, youll enjoy either a custom leaf pack or the j66 springs more. One downside of the j66+6.5 shackle is the rear ride height is tall, but actually like how it sits.

The JD stuff resolves the ride height issue. I haven't experienced any major axle wrap issues with my 63s.

My axle wrap isnt major either. But it is there.
The jd mounts are nice, and when i was thinking of doing a chevy 63 swap, i was going to do a similar thing.and Get a aftermarket 63 spring with a decent amount of arch. I think thats really the downside to these trucks, to make them ride well you need a soft spring for soa, but you get axle wrap. Or solve both issues and go sua and deal with the clearance issues. Theres alot of ways to set up the rear and you just need to find what works best for you.

Exactly!!! You can help mitigate some axle wrap with shocks facing different directions like the OE but that makes compromises elsewhere. Everything is a trade off it's just finding what you're willing to compromise.

I’ve never understood why people will spend money on a front LT setup but won’t spend to make the rear work too. In my honest opinion, the rear needs more help than anything. Why be cheap about it when you’re already rocking LT up front? 63’s really are just going to make it a mid travel.

Depends how and what you do for 63s and how you set everything up. I could also say that Deavers just aren't as good you should just link it and do it proper.
