I bought 18” adjustable RCI bed rack. Doesn’t fit on my 2007. They stated 05-16…. ***After talking to support they sent me the correct hardware! It’s different with the second gen Tacoma. Thank you all for the suggestions and RCI support was outstanding. 10/10! ****

Did you buy the optional mounting hardware to mount to the bed rail? I'm waiting on mine and wondering if I should cancel.

Sure did. Doesn’t fit at all. Sits about 2inche above the bed rail. One of the bolts don’t line up and one pushes on it

Problem is my bed rail sits closer than what’s in the photo with the mounting hardware. I’ve tried putting plate in front and behind

Have you reached out to RCI's customer service to try and resolve?

Waiting for a call back. I will adjust this post if it gets resolved. I’ve heard very highly of them and hoping all will be good in the end. I’m not dissing the company just trying to help out others with purchasing it. Thank god my tent is still on back order with Tacoma beast

FFS, maybe a modicum of patience before publicly bashing a company with a "buyer beware" statement.

2" is the rough height difference between 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma railcaps, so the hardware probably needs different arrangement to work on 2nd gen compared to the 3rd gen pics on the web site.
Put the plate in front. Use the two holes on the side so the washers don't clash?

Yeah no it definitely is different. I believe they have another mounting method but seems less safe. I’m gonna talk to them hopefully tomorrow and see what has to be done. If I need to drill I’m gonna return and look else where. I get what you mean on the washers but it mounts up with a plate in the rail so it won’t work

OP, you should've bought the RCI bed rack for Tacomas instead of the adjustable bed rack made to fit different models of trucks requiring the brackets you are having mounting issues with. The rack made specifically for your tacoma has longer mounting plates on the X-bars so the optional brackets are not needed and the fit is more true and secure to the rails. You can see the 2 ordering options on RCI website.

I had the same problem with mine, but I reached out to them and they sent me the correct mounts right away. These are the brackets you need. RCI is a great company with great customer service in my opinion.

Nope this is the same as what I bought. The adjustable one is cause of the side plate I can move up or down. They fixed it. The mounting hardware was incorrect and is the same for all the bed racks they sell.
