I think it depends on the 4WP. The one local to me did a fantastic job with my suspension.

Ah. So similar to what’s required for the Victory 4x4 bumper?

what’s the issue with 4WP? I’m looking at a couple of their bumper options now. Should I avoid them?

I think it's one of those things where some likes a company and someone doesn't. I've bought a bunch of stuff from 4WP over the years and never had any issue with them. Now I have never had them install anything I know of horror stories of their installs but that is different. Their Tacoma stuff is pretty new so quality is questionable on them but they do look solid and possibly aren't made here but don't quote me on that because I haven't looked into it.

That is high production instagram of everything including a bottle opener with the obligatory brew. Oh, let's just show a two second CAD of the actual product, cause who wants to know if it's more than vaporware? Why, nobody Sherlock. Life is CGI, just like the movies.

Think someone just got out of Michael Bay film school. At least the writers did some research by reading through TW to determine that the most important thing in a bed stiffener was a bottle opener.

I base my opinion on the local 4wp shops. Not the company as a whole. My local shop sucks a donkey dick. They constantly fuck peoples rigs up then yell at the owner that its their fault. Eat a dick local 4wp!

Id like to see how their bed stiffeners go in though. Looks like they hide them on the underaide, id prefer that.

I'm no 4WP fanboy or anything, but they showed multiple close ups and moving shots of the actual product on an actual tacoma. I may be misunderstanding what you're saying.

I don't see how someone can generalize an entire company with hundreds of stores in multiple countries. Like maybe 1 closest to you did a shitty job once but try another one with different management and different people.

I get that, but if it's any consolation the one by me does shitty work too and has lousy customer service.

Personally, I look at them as the Walmart of the off-road world. Do they have what you want? Probably, though in my experience they will need to order it from their regional warehouse so be prepared to wait a day or two and make a return trip. Are there other places which have the similar or better quality pieces for similar prices? Yes.

All that having been said, my tow rig is an '04 Silverado which in it's previous life (prior to my buying it) spent a lot of time at 4WP's getting a lift, step bars, wheels and tires (which rubbed the UCA's which caused me to replace them shortly after buying the truck). The lift has worked well over the past 13 years. I try to remember to re-torque everything related to it every six months or so. However this is a truck which see's primarily highway use and never goes down anything more technical than graded dirt roads in the desert.

All I saw of product was a bottle opener and brew and a drawing. Michael Bay wannabe succeeded in getting your brain to fill in the rest. I know I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning but bullshit like this ad sets me off. Would rather go with vendors that don't dish the bull. That is just me.

I was eyeing a steel rear bumper and a low profile front bumper for 3rd gen Tacoma at 4WP that I really liked. Price was reasonable too. Can someone here direct me to similar products from a different reputable vendor? I was also counting on local pick up here in Sacramento, but that may not be feasible with other vendors. Here’s the ones at 4WP I was interested in:

Whats dumb to me about the rear bumper is the hitch. I want more ground clearance, thats one of the few reasons to get a different rear bumper.

To me 4WP has done nothing to earn distrust in their work; It's that they are the "McDonald's of wheelin", focusing on volume more than anything.

I do like the looks of that new gen3 bumper with the wings. I read somewhere that the little 4WP logo on the front comes off... would be good to put an American Flag in its spot. Nice looking though.

So, does that mean I'm the first guinea pig?

I won some of their sliders from a giveaway over on Tacoma3g.com! Unwrapped em this weekend, they seem pretty well put together and strong. I can't spot any poor craftsmanship on them and they look really good in person.

Hoping to get em installed sometime this week. Damn near broke my back trying to move them around the garage though. 82lbs each.

For those of you asking, here’s one example of how awful 4WP sucks ballz... I had them install an ARB locker in the front diff of my ‘97 4runner. They drilled the air hose nipple so the hose went straight up against my hot oil pan and it melted the air line in about a week (and of course the locker stopped working). So the when I brought it back, they put a new line on and this time they wrapped it in heat tape but still left it resting against the hot oil pan. After having my truck for a total of 2 weeks by this point, I was pissed they did this, but I drove it home because I needed my truck for work. It took twice as long to melt the line this time, but of course it did it again and I had to go back a 3rd time and they had it for another week. The ARB rep came out for this one and he showed them how and where to drill the hole for the air line properly on my diff. They plugged their fuck up hole (which pissed me off that I have a useless additional hole in my diff now, but it’s on the top at least and no leaks after several years). So 3 attempts and 3 weeks in their garage for what should have been a 1-2 day job was bad enough, but that asshole manager didn’t so much as offer me a fucking 10% off coupon after all the needless trouble those bumbling apes caused me.

If anyone wants a close look on these sliders, I did a quality check/unboxing video:
