    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Damn dude, that sucks. I'm at least getting a few more miles (or months) out of mine. They are pretty much becoming a once a year thing now.

Make super sure the threads on the lock nuts are good and clean (where they have to be unstaked to get them off). Or buy new ones.

If they aren't really good, it can cause you to get to torque prematurely, which doesn't put enough preload on the bearing, which in turn will cause them to fail.

I may or may not have some experience with this issue

Brand new lock nuts when I installed them, but I may not have preloaded the bearing correctly. Either way I think my plan is like yours, I'll get a set of manual hubs here soon from zippsub to toss on the truck and just have a spare set of spindles so I'm not rushing to change out a wheel bearing on a day off

I swear... between setting up a second set of spindles, going through bearings and LBJs, the Solo Motorsports fully fabbed spindles and LBJs are starting to look less, and less expensive.

Still curious on what Chevy 63s people are running...

And now I'm curious about how @drr has his limit straps set up on his.

I think most people run 63s out of 1500s, and if they want extra weight capacity grab some from a HD 2500

I had some 2+overload on mine and they held plenty of weight and were still super soft and flexy.

Thank you. Do you happen to know if the 2+overload was off a 1/2 ton or 3/4?

You say "had" was this on a different truck than you have now? Or did you change to a different setup?

You’ll drag that bed before you hit the shackles. When I had a full bed before I bobbed it, I dragged it everywhere. Now I don’t hit the bed and rarely hit the shackle. Mostly hitch shackle if anything and that has to be a 6+ foot ledge going straight off.
I still run them. Should be from a 1500 3 leaf with a Toyota leaf or two added to get the height to match the front.

2.0x12 under the bed straight up and down angled back and used the full shock was the first setup

now outboard with 2.5x12 bypasses angled forward with hydro bumps. Could run a 14 in shock but I just limited the down travel about an inch with limit straps to avoid completely redoing shock towers.

axle wrap is minimal but my truck is “light” compared to yours with all the stuff you carry (saying something considering i have a full size 40 in spare on a beadlock and about 200lbs in spares and tools in the bed). Only time I notice axle wrap is steep climbs on super grippy sandstone. I overcome it with a little bump. No overload. Limits to much up travel.
    current setup with 2.5x12 bypasses.

Don’t forget 2.0 shocks are shorter than 2.5 and 3.0 and so on…

I know you said you searched, but if you searched a little more and just looked at guys who did 63s and read what they did, you would found in my thread I posted exactly how far forward I pushed the front hanger, what leafs I liked and didn’t like and so on.

but I also saw you said your not interested in having more rear axle travel vs the front which makes no sense at all. Why not get all the travel you can with your current setup and limit it to where your comfortable if you don’t want to cut fenders etc. I used a full 12 in shock under the bed with 63s on 35s with no cutting of the fenders or holes in the beds.

I want to say it was a 3/4 but I'm not positive. I just wanted the newest set from the junk yard and these were almost taken off so half the work was already done. I sacrificed the Tacoma that had the setup but only because it was a salvage title and wasn't my build. Plus the new motor went into my 84 4Runner but I liked the setup. I can't compare it to stock custom spring setups because my first Tacoma was a crawler built rig that at one time had shocks through the bed. So actually my advice on the matter is probably void. My only comparison is OME on a 1st gen 4Runner.

There are 33 pages of 1st gen builds with approximately 50 builds listed per page.

I don't know who has or has not done Chevy 63s. If I did, I would have looked. But something as simple as "Hey dude, I've done 63s check out my build page" would make things much easier. I guess this way is just as good.

As far as not being interested in more axle travel... As usual (in this thread) I guess this is where reading comprehension gets kind of blurry, and we start picking and chosing statements to twist them around and say they don't make sense.

    Here's what I said...
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...t-gen-edition.138573/page-10607#post-26006540

And here's the post you are referring to...

    Screenshot_20210723-163738_Edge.jpg

I said I'm not interested in cutting the bed, outboarding the shocks, or running shocks at funky angles... as a product of that, I am limited to 10 inch shocks, because that's all, I can see, will fit under the bed without doing those things I mentioned. That's the trade off. For those who are willing to do those things for additional travel, more power to them. If there is a way for me to run 12 inch shocks under the bed without my truck looking like a cat in heat, and without my lower mounts 2 or 3 inches lower than my axle... I'm all ears.

Winch is installed, and Chassis Unlimited bumper finally mounted. I like it.
For those wanting to know, the bumper weight is 81 Lbs. The winch adds another 65 Lbs.

I'm undecided on which lights I want to get.

It was a PITA, trying. My son helped me deal with it all. Thankfully!!

Seems you have selected reading as well. Literally the post you quoted has pictures and me saying I ran 12s under the bed without funky angles and no cutting of the bed or fenders on 35s. To add to it, it’s with shock mounts just at the bottom of the axle tube.

But sounds like you have it all figured out internet tough guy. Plenty of people responded who have build threads. All you had to do was go to said thread, search bar, search within forum and results of the word “63s” or “Chevy” would have come up. And if that does work, pull out a tape measure and figure it out if you want to argue with everyone who posts help.

Back to what I did to my 1st gen, been over the last few days but new spare tire rack with a slide out drawer and floor jack mount. Also took it for a cruise around the block. Was nice to have it start after sitting for a month and half
