Some feedback on the 2.25 LT and a suggestion for improvement: create a provision on the LCA to utilize the steering stop.

On my shakedown, I bent a banjo bolt, losing all braking power. I thought I had used my brake line like a limit strap which bent the bolt. I got my replacement bolt in and am tearing into it today and am finding that wasn’t the case. The banjo bolt made contact with the secondary bypass mounting tab.

It would also be beneficial at keeping the knuckle off of the LCA. You can see where it’s coming in contact with the PC.

Now, this happened while I was ripping some donuts. So I was fully drooped and locked, worst case scenario so to speak. If it weren’t something as serious as brakes, I would just be more mindful of cranking it at droop.

I haven’t decided what my solution is going to be. I’ll likely just shave off a little bit of the secondary bypass mounting tab and also be more mindful of lock/droop. I may also weld up some makeshift steering stop instead.

To be clear, I’m not upset in the slightest. I just wanted to provide real world feedback to fine tune this kit.

Upgrade to the tundra rack that decreased steering angle will probably fix that . In all seriousness though I think that might actually work. Not sure if the +4 would have that issue but mine is going in with a tundra rack so I'll be able to tell then.

I'd probably add a steering stop to the LCA.

I know, that's what I should do. I just don't want to cook the PC. I may modify the steering stop itself, weld some material back onto it since I cut it off durung install.

I figured it out. The spindle makes contact with the lca here anyways. I’ll just weld a little 1/4” plate here as a shim so it makes contact sooner, thus limiting steering.

edit: I don't think that'll work. It'll contact the lower uniball cup during the rest of the stroke.

I was just about to ask if I should cut the steering stop off or not. Curious to see what the best option is

Personally, I would hold off even though the instructions recommend cutting it off. Wait and cycle the suspension and see how the steering stop plays with everything else. I don't know if that would fix this issue, but it doesn't hurt to wait and see.

I was going to run through that this weekend so I’m glad you posted that when you did. Maybe I can trim a bit instead of removing it to clear everything without bind.

Alright, I figured it out. Took longer to think of a solution than it did to execute. I laid a slightly cold bead on the spindle and now it makes contact with the LCA sooner. Works like a charm, minus the fact it digs into the PC a little. Not a big deal.

Wonder if a small rubber bump could be drilled and tapped to the LCA right there. Not sure how it'd stand up to the abuse though.

My initial thought was rivet a piece of SS there to both limit travel and protect PC, but with the uniball cup right there, I can't drill there.

Clearance gained. Calling this one case closed. If I find it limits me too much, I can always shave down the nub a little bit to fine tune it.
