It's not a real manual shifter though so it doesn't really matter which way it goes. You're not changing the gear, you're stopping it from going past that gear.

There's also a relatively easy mod to change it if you so desired.

I was also confused when they made the big middle pedal the gas and the right skinny pedal the brake, My Daewoo was both brake pedals

In a sense. If you're in 3rd and put it to 6, it doesn't go to 6. It's goes to 4 then 5 then 6. But if you're in 3rd and drop it down, it'll shift down.

I have to agree the shifter, along with the radio controls is backwards, but it's no big deal to me

I guess I think of pushing down with my foot the same as pushing forward on the shifter? This is my current bike, 650 GS. Maybe I am words back thinking?

Unplug the factory connector, plug it into the harness then plug harness into the shifter. Took 15 seconds. I have OVTune with gear lock out so I use s mode often.

cant say I understand your posts now. All bikes are down for lower gear and up for higher gear. Up / Down is not “slam” forward / back as your original post I quoted. If it’s about bikes owned, I’ve been riding 45 years will well over 1mm miles in many countries and 12 bikes in my garage at present. But that’s totally irrelevant.

Got It! Thanks again. I've seen the rewire videos and I always thought of doing it that way. I owe you a beer.

I think we are just saying about the same thing but I always thing ass back wards. Not really trying to start a piss fight with a skunk. Usually riding off road I see an obstacle coming up way too fast and I slam the shifter down, just how I think I guess. I do believe you ask what "piece of shit" I was riding. So figured I would show you a few.

LOL they arent in the wrong position they are in the position that makes sense when you look at the radio. the volume on the stock radio goes from left (DOWN) to right (UP) and the radio presets go up and down along the left side.

You press down, to go up through the presets. And up to go down through them. If they just turned the switch 90 degrees clockwise, it would be perfectly fine. Volume is up and down, not left and right.
