It’s fantastic. Without the cap it looks a wee bit funky, but the cap really tied the truck together and the 8ft bed is awesome. Tows my other projects around like a dream too

she does good for a truck that’s been upside down at 70mph

Are 3rd gen still having problems with these rims? I’m scheduled Monday to get them and I’m stressing about it. Please upload your pics or stories.

likely an issue. the 4runners dont exhibit the issue due to using a different axle. the tacomas new axle seems to protrude just enough more to not seat properly. if there was a manufacturing defect toyota would of issued a recall by now

So you’re saying, they’re not going to work on 3rd gen due too different axel? I’m just really stressing because I’m just finding all this out and I’m scheduled Monday for the lift, rims and tires. Plus nobody will be in service department tomorrow to change the order.

you can have them mounted up and have someone grind the axle hub down a bit to make them clear. its documented somewhere in this forum. i was worried about it with my tundra. but my older style axle doesn't exhibit this issue

i definitely had the well documented issue of them not seating up properly due to the hub ring on the rear being a mm or so too deep. My truck is a 2021 DCSB. While I can’t speak to everyone who has put these on the 3rd gen I can wager a guess that those who are claiming they fit just fine are just tightening the rears lugs to some ungodly and unsafe tq to try to make them work. Thankfully, I found a forum member here who had a grinder (and experience) and was able to grind a millimeter or so off each rear hub ring so that these wheels would fit perfectly.

Be aware that these 2021 wheels are notorious for being VERY difficult to balance perfectly. I had mine rebalanced 3 times in the 5 weeks I had them on the truck. Ultimately, I decided to sell these to another member and I switched to the “SEMA” prior year wheels that look only slightly different. If you have not paid for these wheels yet and have a 3rd gen, I’d recommend considering the prior year SEMA wheels.

Thanks so much for everyone’s help. I haven’t paid for them yet so I will not be getting them. I’ll be going with the tried and true sema rims. I’m so thankful I found these threads before I bit the bullet tomorrow. I may have to wait a extra day to get everything done with the rim change but once I get it back I’ll be posting the pics.

Good call. I wish I would have thought that before buying mine the first go-round but the good news is I’m selling them for a fair price tomorrow.

Just an FYI for people, AGP wheels in Sac has these rims setup to be installed without and grinding, they are pre-milled and ready to go.

I believe they ship as well, and the price is quite attractive.

    +4mm.

I think those wheels look best on the Cement, Silver, and Magnetic Gray trucks. Nice choice. Did you run into the mounting issues I described earlier?

That looks great! Are you getting any rubbing with the 275?

Thanks so much. I took the front air dam off before I got it done, but as far as mud flaps and control arms go, so far absolutely nothing. I will say, this has just been highway driving but looks like there’s plenty of room.I originally wanted the new 4runner rims but after reading allot of threads about having trouble with them, I went with ol faithful sema rims and glad I did.

Thanks! I'm still debating on 265/70/17 or the size tires you have. Right now I have stock suspension but will get 6112s and 5160s once they're back in stock. I just got the 2021 4runner replica wheels https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2021-4runner-trd-pro-replica-wheels.695332/ and I know 275s will probably rub.

But once you get the 6112s they’ll look great, I wouldn’t rush, get the set up you want. Then get what’ll fit. But that’s just my opinion. But If you can’t wait and wanna get tires first, everyone says the 265/70/17 will fit on stock suspension.
