So a couple weeks ago i had my check engine come on retrieved a code p2716. i took it in to the dealer monday and they said it was quart low. but there was no fluid leaking anywhere. so they added fluid cleared the code and sent me on my way. the next morning the light came back on and actually started blinking. so i brought it back in yesterday and they called me today saying there replacing my trans. i have not heard of automatic tranny issues with the tacoma anyone know of any i am not familiar with or is this just a freak thing. the truck has 37000 miles on it and i have had a front diff, front wheel bearing, blower motor, transfercase and now transmission replaced. idk im starting to think this truck is cursed but i am a little upside down on it so i dont know what to do. if i should trade it in sell it or keep it.

I was pretty sure you were wrong but to double check I googled it and you are.

The Check Engine Light illuminates, stays on, and there are performance problems.
This means that a vital component of your emission control and engine management system has a serious problem. It usually involves a component or system needed for the vehicle to run at all. In most cases, drive the vehicle as little as possible. In many cases, the vehicle is not safe to drive at all—it could stop or stall out at any moment. It is best to pull over to a safe place and have the vehicle towed to an automotive diagnostician for a thorough inspection and repair.

Haha if I would have read the next one down

The Check Engine Light light comes on and blinks in a steady pattern while driving.
Don't confuse this steady pulsing of the Check Engine Light light (usually one or more flashes per second) with a flicker (see above). The Check Engine Light may stay on steadily or it may flash when the vehicle is accelerated. This is very serious. There is a severe failure of the emission control system that is causing the engine to misfire to the point that the catalytic converter is damaged each time the Check Engine Light flashes. It may mean that the catalytic converter is overheating to the point that it will glow red or, in extreme cases, start a fire on the underside of the vehicle. Immediately pull over to a safe place and have your vehicle towed to an automotive diagnostician for repair. Vehicles can be severely damaged and even destroyed by fire if this condition is ignored for too long.

My bad, I just had never heard that before.

    My apologizes.

Anyways :) I don't like the idea of that many problems already in that time frame, I personally would trade it in. I wouldn't discount the entire fleet, or Toyota itself. Just that one vehicle.

Lemon law applies the SAME problem happening three times I thought within a certain period of time

he California Lemon Law primarily applies to vehicles:

    • That were tendered for repair at least two (2) times for a serious safety problem; or
    • That were tendered for repair for any other defect at least three (3) times ; or
    • That are out of service for a total of thirty (30) or more days
