Just popping by to check-in. Morning coffee, quiet morning.

My wife is still fighting, still sassy.

I'd planned to go with my son camping in Colorado for two weeks. My son and truck are off camping, so he is keeping me updated so I can live vicariously.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! "Back to normal" stuff today - going to make my photocell control box that was on the agenda before the waterbox fiasco.
Yep, REAL glad Carol found that plumber, because the leak was on the union between original copper, and the new PVC line that went in a little after we moved in (long ago). Like I said, Rick told me that there was an anchor on the copper that I would not have known about, and that would have just played hell with my plumbing attempts. I thinks this is one of those repairs best left to a pro.
Welcome, @Oldewing1800! :hattip: Someone going to be telling you about cooler responsibilities real quick! And I think you'll find retirement is a myth - you just quit going to work! Have fun!

Good day to do anything, SO figured I better mow before it starts raining almost everyday again. Three hrs. into it and 2/3 done, then need to do a major trimming again. :(
Built a new set of I-beam sawhorses day before yesterday and put Thompsons water seal on them yesterday, my old ones were starting to rot and hopefully I'm good for awhile now.

Good morning everyone!! I spent some time getting "aroma therapy" yesterday - working with a friend to teach him how to shoot a pistol. First time I worked with a Kahr - nice pistol.

We also finally got a balloon flight in last night. Hoping for a few more this weekend.

Today I tame the jungle of grass.

    Be safe out there!!

Whew, a lot of reading to catch up on. Prayers for your wife, tom and for Annie, Susan.

Vacation was great with a lot of sunset photos. I need to organize them this weekend. All the talk about flies brought back memories of these little honeys:

Off to give blood this morning, pick up some bird seed and recycle some Styrofoam. After breakfast, watering some plants and cleaning off the workbench. My son was promoted at work yesterday so we are going out to dinner when he gets home at 3pm today.

    Grass grass grass…….
    Raining just about everyday here.
had to help my boy with his.
    It was sooooo bad..
He hurt his foot also and couldn’t walk (he is getting better)
So between mowing everything 3 times to knock it down in sections, trimming,
Brush cutting I think I have about 16 to 18 hours into it. I’m tired, sore, wrists are
    Acting up.

    BUT

    The results are worth it.

:pccoffee: Good Morning and Happy Friday Porch People! According to those who know, our fun with rain in July ended last night. Got the yard all mowed, and the strip of field behind the fence. (Having to mow that strip bi-weekly, when it's normally a monthly in summer!) Then got to my photocell box for the greenhouse finally. Finished all just before the last rain! Had to cook the chicken fajitas inside, because it just wouldn't stop! Off to Heart Dr. #1 today, eye exam, and DT rotation and balance.

That's a beautiful spot, Mike! Well worth the mow.

Had to put some of those fly strips in the greenhouse for whiteflies, Harry! I've pulled all the tomatoes out, tossed a few and repotted a couple to be "potted plants" around the pool. Carol has tried to save the peppers again, and they look at least better than the tomatoes did. That greenhouse is frustrating as all get out - for the first full summer season. I tried 60% shade cloth to control the temps, but everything wanted more sun. That kept it to about 100*, but within a week of shade - bug pests. Rolled it back to 2/3, 1/2 coverage, and finally off. Temp went to 120*! But, few pests. Put on a 30% shade cloth, and that seems better for the sun inside, and the temp is back to 100* (ish), but white flies came back. I have a Lasko box fan, and two duct fans running on a thermostat - I've got it set to run only for excessive temps, but that is all the darn time!

So, that is where the box comes in. You can't (readily) buy a photocell controller that has an isolated relay (because I need to use the temp controller), and turns OFF in the dark. So, I made one. The ready made cords got cut up, because it's cheaper than buying separate wire and plugs. Here's the stuff.

    20210721_141720.jpg

And, here it is getting wired up and tested. Photocell uncovered for day time, and the light=fans ON.
    20210722_134344.jpg

Photocell covered, and the "fans" are OFF. Probably save me $1.00 a night, but the fans might last longer!
    20210722_134539.jpg

And, put to work. Wife makes me label these things, so "they'll know what to do if I'm not around". I must have not shot the eye in the sky, but you KNOW I will!
    20210722_143940.jpg

So, on to the "weekend", right? Have a great day everyone.

    Morning all:
OUCH, just got gas for the mowers and filled the Tacoma, ONLY $100, geez!

Not as complicated as some of the projects on here, but very handy for working on multiple other projects, strong and pretty simple to make. Could have used new lumber, but the price was right on the used 2x4's my buddy gave me! :)

Nails were used just to hold the legs in place, used deck screws to secure them.
I make the 2x4 I beam top 46-48" , and the legs are 32" which seems to put them at a good working height for me. The legs look like they are crooked on the right hand picture, but they aren't and are evenly spaced and sit level, the I beam design helps with that.

Nice, Boats! Since mine have to hang on a wall, I have plastic folding ones. Not quite the strength, but only one piece of 2x4 to replace when worn out.

Oooh. I accidentally filled up with premium this week. :spending:

Good morning, everyone!! That is some greenhouse system you built, Kurt! Fortunately, here in northeast PA we don't have the same heat issues. And, Lynn really only uses hers from March until October.

Finally got our grass cut here yesterday - took maybe an extra 45 minutes of picking up clippings but nothing like Mike's experience. Having the Zero Turn with a 61" deck helps.

Lynn wanted another shelf added to the greenhouse - easy job since the brackets I found to hang the bar for her hanging baskets had holes for a shelf pre-drilled. A quick trip tp the stable and 5 minutes later "mission complete."

Pool day today, I think. Whatever I end up doing...work will not be involved. :D

This past weekend a female friend of mine of 40+ years (who Mimi calls Barbie...because she's a tall blonde) asked Mimi and I to meet her and her fiancé at a local BBQ place. BBQ..ok!
This girl, in my opinion has had a tough time. She has a special needs son who is 35. He wasn't supposed to make it far...thank God he has.
Anyway...while eating she said to Mimi and I with her voice crackling, throat clearing...etc...she asked me to give her away at their wedding in September. I WAS FLOORED!!
So for the 1st time ever I'm giving away a bride....:woot:

Saw horses look sturdy and the top board looks easy to replace after a few nicks with a saw. PA gas is so expensive. Cost more than NY state. When traveling to MI I make sure I do not have to stop in PA for gas. It is usually 30 to 50 cents more expensive, per gallon, than gas in Ohio.

Tonight is our first indoor concert in over two years. Going to see Alabama in Salisbury, MD. Tracy Lawrence is opening for them.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals and Gals! Happy Saturday to all! Got a putz list and hope to be like Mark and spend most of the time at the pool. Did reverse sear beef tenderloin steaks on the gravity smoker last night for the first time, and dang if I am not now a perfessional chef! Only could have been a teensy bit better! Even the wife was impressed, and poor Rex didn't get much left over.

If this greenhouse wasn't so "pretty" compared to the alternatives, I'd have torched it by now Mark! What peppers I can get to grow in it are pretty expensive! Messing with the systems I built is kind of fun, but when a lot of it is to overcome problems - less so. Get through the summer, and make sure my plan for this winter is successful for overwintering pool plants. That's what job 1 is. When wood comes back to affordable, I may just use the parts in a wood frame version that lets me open the sides and roof for venting. Maybe.

Wow Harry, good on you! Congrats!
