I have a 2016 Tacoma, my buddy has a 2018. His has side rear view mirrors with turn signal indicators in them. Mine doesn't have the indicators. The mirror mounting appears identical between our trucks, and one can purchase replacement mirrors with the indicators for not a lot of money. Does anyone know if the electrical cables to the mirrors are different between models / years, as in if I bought the indicator mirrors would the harness in my doors have the needed connections for the indicator lights? Haynes wiring diagram isn't helping much.

Wouldn't be hard to run them if not, but would be nice if they did. So before I order....

    Thanks!

Do an exploratory on your buddies truck. See where they plug into the main harness and compare to yours. Id guess you will have to modify to some extent.
And no I dont think your doors will contain the signal connectors.

Thanks JMB. I wish I could explore his truck...he's still paying on it and won't let anyone touch it. You did give me an idea though...perhaps the harness going up to the mirrors begins inside the door, and it would just mean swapping that little segment. Interesting.....

Pull your mirror cover straight off. This is what you will be looking for:

That part is easy....it's knowing if that connector has the wiring to make turn indicators work or not that's the problem. I have nothing to compare mine with (buddy says no taking his truck apart). I think I may get the mirrors, run my own wiring if need be. It'll be easy to tap into the front turn signals, run a wire into the cab, into the door.

You will have to run wires to the engine bay. If you take off the (mirror cover) cap like above you will have wires for the mirror tilt power controls. All doable with some time and effort

    edit: side view mirrors*

Tap the rear turn signals so you don't have them ON as DRL (Day Time running Lights). The nearest location to tap is behind the Combination Meter, then the Driver's Junction Box (Cab fuses, relays and connectors)

Disabled DRLs long ago...but thank you for the best tap locations. That would be easier than running through the engine compartment. The Haynes will (should) give me the wires I'd need to tap for both sides.

I just had the gauge cluster out a few days ago. Put some 17x9 Pro Comp wheels and 285/70-17s on it. Speedo was off, reading low (expected that to happen). Bought a Hypertech speedometer calibrator, programmed it with the laptop, pulled the cluster and it went in line between (IIRC) C9 and the cluster. Works perfect, speedo agrees with the GPS and phone perfectly now.

You could also look up wiring harness on Toyota parts on line..
Sometimes the hunt for knowledge is just as satisfying as the job and final outcome.

Absolutely true. Started my hunt in the Haynes manual, Tacomaworld was 1st place after, knew I'd get a good answer here. :)
