I added one more board to make a pocket for the leg assemblies to fit in. Once it's screwed in place I don't think I will need any further bracing. It's not really ever going to be moved once set in place and Leveled.

I routed dovetail key-ways across the bottom with maple keys across, and the cherry perimeter band is glued and pinned. I’m hoping those two things and it’s age (more than 60 yrs) will minimize movement.

I had a few minutes before I left for work this morning so I set up the morticing machine.

After I finished boring the mortices I worked on the recesses for the leveling feet.
First I bored the large part out for the flange with a forstner bit.
    20210721_190349.jpg
Then I did the same thing for the threaded post part of the insert.
    20210721_191135.jpg
Now they sit nice and flush.
    20210721_191203.jpg
The legs are done, now it's time to form the tennons for the cross stretchers.
    20210721_191408.jpg
Dado insert for my saw is on back order so I'll need to nibble away at it with a regular blade. Setting the height here.
    20210721_192033.jpg
Here you can see how the fence on my saw can be slid back to act as a stop. As I push the work through it clears the fence before contacting the blade so it is safe to do and won't bind when using a miter gage. This ensures that all of my shoulders are exactly the same.
    20210721_192251.jpg
A little clean up with a shoulder plane just to remove the blade marks and it fits nice. One down and 3 to go.

    A thing or two...
    Looking for ideas/advice.

My parents gave me their old dining room table, and I'm looking for ideas on how to give it some new life. The main top is in fairly decent shape. I think I just need to give it a wipe down and maybe a little sanding to remove some scratches and a refinish.

The bigger issue is the leaf. The veneer is starting to peel at the edges. Also, one of the skirt extensions got soaked and is all swollen up. It'll need to be replaced for sure.

I guess the real questions are:

What species do you think the veneer is?
Would I be better off removing the old veneer, or can I just sand everything smooth and glue down new veneer?

    It was some 2 x 8 walnut I bought in Virginia. True 2 x 8 x 8 for $15! Cheaper than pine at Lowe’s.

You could have resawn it and made 2 or 3 table tops out of that!

Unless you're building it to support a cannon. Then we all need cannons.

Nice use of the 1up lumber rack! Also, I want those wheels, but I need 17's to fit over my big brake kit.

I use my 1up lumber rack to carry 12' lumber.

Finally got a little shop time today so I worked on the tennons and fitting them to the mortices.
    Test fit.......
    20210725_180505.jpg
All tennons done and dry fit.
    20210725_184505.jpg
Glued up and in the clamps.
    20210725_190231.jpg
These legs and table will be much sturdier and stable than the ones that came with the saw.

Filled my scrap and cut off box again so it's time to empty it and carry all the scraps to the backyard fire pit. 20210725_180959.jpg
So I got this waxed canvas firewood tote on Amazon for 20 bucks. This will mean far less trips up and down the basement stairs and contain all the lite pieces.
