Fukkin A Right!! It amazes me how people use so much energy trying to bring someone down. When they hit that point, they already gave up on their own happiness. Oh well, it sucks to be them.

 

Family:
My mom and dad are no more.
Me and my idiot brother are pretty tight (he called yesterday).
No desire to speak with cousins, aunts, uncles and whomever is left.
It's not that I don't like them, I just don't really care one way or the other.
Almost forgot, my brother's kid is a sweetie.

I have a step-uncle only a few hours away that I've never met and my step parents have both been around since I was an infant.

Just to lay my wonderful foundation, my father and stepmom got married while my sister and I were overseas... So thoughtful of them, right?

When my dad died there was a gal involved in his life...problems arose; my aunt (his sister) called and started asking me a bunch of shit.....I got pissed (he'd only been dead one day) and I may or may not have called her a name that sounds like runt.
Not my finest moment, but at least I haven't spoken to her in 18 years.

 

Something similar happened with my when my grandmother passed away and her boyfriend family apparently came out of the woodwork. I only met her only once. I was 13 and it was when my half brother was born.

Another one of those fond family memories I keep tucked away for when I'm feeling super fabulous.

 

My Mom is terrible for the "Miss you guys, When you coming back to visit/ when are you done having fun and moving home?" It gets old in a hurry. eventually I get pissed and tell her the planes fly both ways and she is capable of flying out anytime. For the first 4 years we lived out here we used all our vacation time just to go home and visit family and never got any to ourselves. It's also crazy expensive to fly across Canada.

I used to get commentary how we must have so much time on our hands because we have no kids and now that I'm not working it's "I know you're not busy during the day, so I figured..."
