Thanks not in big rush to swap it out going to try and find a used one to save a few bucks, otherwise i will go that route. I was going to go with the rear seat molle panel but the guy on this forum stopped making them.

Heres my take. Its tedious will all of the round measurements etc. But I think it turned out great in the end. Made out of MDF because no way am I paying $84 for a piece of 3/4 plywood.

    My dogs own my truck
I actually am thinking about doing something like this. When the weather is 70 or below our shepherd rescues prefer the back. Way more room because they are big pups. They have it made in the bed of the truck. I built a platform n bought a full size camper mattress pad, trimmed to fit, covered with SUV cargo cover n full size fitted sheet. Underneath I have tons of storage. Painted the top of the cap white. Double tinted with solar screen n wire mess on windows because Roxy felt the need to rip the screen to stick her head out. My build is super easy n super lite. I also have a wireless thermometer that has the sensor in the back n the temp reader on my dash so I always know the temp back there.20210207_130102.jpg 20210207_132709.jpg IMG_20210602_205231_918.jpg 20210602_161824.jpg IMG_20210602_205231_918.jpg

Did a simple delete using existing seat hinges. 3/4 pvc board. 22”x48” clears center hump when flipped up. Rubber anti fatigue mat for the top. It’s soft and gives Cal a good grip. Easy to clean. Question for everyone here doing these mods with dogs: what are your concerns about the safety of your dog in the event of a crash and what are you doing to mitigate any risk to your puppers?

When driving with my dog I am more cautious. Other than that there's not much you can really do. Sure they make seat belts for dogs (harness of some kind), I think that's mostly a feel-good kind of thing. Show me crash test results...I doubt any have ever been done.

In my UTV, I rigged up a dog pad that he can lean on so he does not smash into the dash. Riding in the back seat of the Tacoma the front seats provide this.

I have mine in a back pull harness and that is attached to a short lead that’s anchored to the back wall.

My primary concern is keeping her in her space and from jumping out. The secondary is to keep her from becoming a missile if we suddenly stop, which has happened a few times off road.
