Did you do the whole delete with break line or dremel? I've been thinking and wanting to do ADM but not enough time but I have time off coming up so.... I'll probably not dremel

Smaller displacement, but not smaller horsepower or torque. The Gen3 Tacoma has 40 more HP and pretty much the same torque as the Gen2, and they probably develop peak torque at more or less the same RPM.

The 2GR-FKS is an updated version of the 1GR-FE from the Gen2, which itself replaced the 5VZ-FE. The GR- and VZ- series engines all share the common traits of reaching peak torque and horsepower at relatively high RPMs. All the way back to the first 3.0 V6's, they've been designed this way .

Spoiler, to all the people who whine about them using a motor from a minivan (actually they put it in the 05 Avalon first), Ford and GM and Nissan use the same motors from their S-10, Ranger, Colorado and Frontier in all their cars, SUVs, and minivans as well, with only minor changes. The motor in the current Colorado was originally designed for the Cadillac CTS, back in 2004. And it's also a smaller displacement motor, at 3.6 liters, than the previous motors, either a 3.7L inline-5, or a 5.2 V8.

But why is the minivan motor more powerful, the whiners will ask? Because it doesn't have a mechanical fan. Because it can't have a mechanical fan. Because it's transversally mounted instead of longitudinally mounted. Indeed, if you wanted to, you could probably find a way to rig the Sienna's fan and controller up to the Tacoma's radiator and get 30 horsepower from that. One of the TSB's for overheating looks to do just that, and here was a post in here recently about someone developing an aftermarket fan and controller to do that.

That TSB was not for overheating issues but for improving AC performance in extra hot climates.

recommend a hard line for simplicity. dealing with the accumulator any more than just removing it has never made any sense to me.

Mind if I get that TSB off of you? What's it entail on the dealer end? Like what's their fix?

I live in the desert, more air-con performance is a win.

If you search around you will locate it, they have an electric fan kit that keeps constant airflow to improve AC performance. Keep in mind that TSB's are only covered during the 3/36 warranty period.

Nope only during the 3/36 warranty period, you are thinking about Safety Recalls.

that was the case with the squeaky pedal TSB.. i didn't qualify being out of warranty, but that turned out to be a good motivator in my case.

If you have a good relationship with the Dealer it cant hurt to try but l can't see them covering a $2500 fan kit out of the 3/36.

i tried with much cheaper things. I'm not sure there's a decent dealer in all of DFW like that.

The big ticket item for that TSB is the blower assembly with the shroud, at $470-ish. The rest of the parts probably add another $40-50. At 3.5 hours to complete the retrofit, I'm skeptical that it's $2600. Even at $200/hr labor, that's only $1300.

A lot of money for 30 HP, though. If you're comfortable with wire strippers, a crimping tool, and a cutting tool, it does look like something a normal person could tackle on their own by following the TSB's very detailed instructions.

I just did the delete. Honda clutch line like in the 1st post. Figured the dremel route was a little too much work.
