My alternator's voltage regular tested bad today. I ordered an Oreilly's reman alternator that will be here tomorrow.

Wish me luck... I haven't heard good things about these.

Good luck! Haven’t heard much good about changing them and getting a good one. I used to work for Autozone…I’d suggest testing the alternator before installing. Many remans are bad off the shelf.

Ultima 80. It was the only one I could get by tomorrow.
Thank you, that's good to know. I'm taking my battery in as well so they can test it without it having a surface charge from being jumped and driven, just in case. I'll have them test the alternator too.

I haven't looked into it for the newer trucks but I know removing the alternator off my 92 involved taking way more of the engine out than I ever wanted to do lol

Hopefully easier than a 4.7L 1st gen tundra starter. That bitch was nestled right in the valley. Had to remove everything on top of the motor to get to it. Took 17 beers long to change.

And I am sitting thinking, "It'll be fine, it's just an alternator". You aren't exactly getting my hopes up.

I guess I should check the FSM

EDIT: Just popped the hood, shouldn't be bad. I've been wrong before though lol

I spent a few dollars more at advance and picked up a Denso alternator for my old 2nd gen. Worked perfect and never had issues.

I have been down the lifetime replacement road before plenty of times lol and don’t plan on returning. I put a lifetime alternator on my ‘85 pickup and had to replace it 6 months later. The next one didn’t even work after spending an hour putting it on. So 3 alternators in a 6 month timespan

Today was a blast! Got to see some amazing builds from small and simple to massive and extravagant! Got to meet @Sear87 and see his awesome builds as well!

but now it’s time to turn and burn back home!

if you ever get the chance to go to one of these conventions I highly recommend going
