They're a little loose on 16" rims, I find, and don't hold air too well:)
(That and 255 is wider than 245)

Just be conscious of the extra overall diameter, it makes for taller gearing. Not sure what your truck has for gearing, but on the 4 cylinders, 1st is already too tall.

What width rim should I be looking for if I want to get 255/80-17 tires?

On my truck at 37psi cold they measure at 34” tall.
I put them through the paces this past weekend up in Southern Utah. Worked damn well. Do still have some rubbing I have to clearance more. But they worked out very well from sand to hard pack gravel to the messy mud with the rains.

Some factory toyota wheels. Wider rims will make the tire shorter, and narrow rims hold the bead better, particularly when aired down. Plus you can keep the factory lugs and pressure sensors

I'm debating between the Method 703 Bronze (17x8.5) and the 4Runner TRD PRO Wheel (PTR56-89210-F2) (17x7).
I'm guessing I would be riding higher with the TRD wheel. Not sure if the Method bead grip is worth it..

The narrow wheel will probably give as much benefit as the bead grip. I wanted the same wheels, plus they look great, but I think I'd hold off unless I was going for a 12.50 wide tire.

The TRD pro wheels give you a few color options too. I'll be sticking with my stock 4runner wheels, they fit the bill and I like the look enough, and the price is right lol

Posted the side profile in the 2nd gen thread but 33/10.5r17 Kenda Klever on a Method MR312 17x8.5 wheel. Haven't measured height mounted/not yet was planning to do that today after work. I was too excited to get them on the truck.

Looks good. Any lift? How much cutting and banging hahaha.

EDIT: Has anyone had a chance to measure overall height installed on these bad boys?

I'm planning on the same tire. As much as I so badly want to get the 35x10.50 klever, I'm worried about committing to cutting and lifting more than I want to at this point. Looks great!

About a 2" Lift. Had to do a little trimming on the plastics and some heat molding of the fender liner. I also had some alignment magic done in combination with SPC upper control arms to pull the wheel forward. So far no rubbing even when the tires were stuffed. Fitment I think is really determined on wheel backspacing.

I have not taken any measurements

Same, really wanted 35's but just couldn't commit to what it takes to do it. Maybe next set.

I am currently looking the 255 85 16 Wildpeak Mts. I am currently running Falken at3 265 70 16. How well do the MTs run in the snow and are they loud on the highways? I live in upstate NY but work and work in the highpeaks area. Also plan on hitting some trails in Colorado next month.
