    Hi Guys,
Just got my 2002 TRD it has the stock 16 7.5 wheels with 265 70 16. I am looking to get some new wheels and most of the 17s are 9 inch wide. I did a bunch a reading on here and it looks like 265 75 17 will fit the 17 9 wheel and look right, but is it going to be much taller. The tire calculator doesn't account for wheel width so that doesn't really help me. Anybody running this size have advise?

    Thanks, Will

265/70-16 is 30.6" tall. The 265/75-17 is 32.7" tall. It is going to look much taller. Are you planning to install a lift? That diameter tire is common for a 3" lift.

As far as a 265 wide tire on a 9" wide rim, you better check the tire manufacturers specs for acceptable rim width. The max rim width of my 275/70-17's was 8.5".

Thanks for all the replies. I don't want to do any lift or gear changes. Maybe I am going to have to stick with a 16-8. Red Razor, what width 17s are on your truck? They look like 18s in the picture.

In my sig, they are 20X9. I run those with 275/55-20 tires in the summer. In the winter, I run 17X8.5 wheels with 275/70-17 tires.

I'm running 265/70/17 Nitto TG's on 17x9 rims with stock suspension. The Nittos are 31.57" and fit a 9" rim per the manufacturer specs. There is another thread around here that determined a 31-32" tire corrects the speedo error. edit..found it

Good to know I can go bigger without messing up the speedo. I know the 265/76 17 is at the limit on a 17 9 wheels. Is there a better size tire for the 17 9 on a 1st gen TRD with no lift? Thanks everyone for the good advice.
