Hello my friends, I decided to take my stock Tacoma off-roading today and went through some deep(ish) puddles, it ran fine through them, and ran fine the way home (roughly an hour). Although I can hear a "sloshing" sound as I brake and accelerate, I've left it in the garage for a bit and its stopped draining water, but it still makes the sound. I've heard alot of horror stories about water damaged trucks and am starting to kick myself for getting carried away. I'm taking it to a mechanic tomorrow to have it looked at just to be safe, but should I be expecting anything nasty?

    Thanks for your time!

Edit: no warning lights on the dash, brakes and accelerates totally fine, wouldn't know there was any issue if it weren't for the sloshing.

Biggest thing is making sure your air filter is dry and the carpets are dry.

You may have water trapped in your cowl, who knows. Good idea to have it checked out.

Fortunately no water made it into the cab itself

Lesson very much learned, I'm just happy I'm safe and it still runs.

I've checked the air filter and its bone dry (thank god), unlikely water made it into the cowl as no water came up over the hood.

Have someone else drive the car in around a parking lot while you ferret your way around the cab listening for the sloshing noise... then take apart the thing thats making the noise drain it.

I’m going to go with this. Seen it before, drain holes in doors get clogged, water collects, sloshing sound ensues.

I made the mistake of googling "flooded truck" and was presented with horror stories, now I've learned how people google vague medical symptoms and end up calling an ambulance....

Keep it simple. Water may have collected somewhere and it’s probably in an area that’s benign. No use thinking worst case scenario if alarm bells aren’t going off.

Park in closed garage, leave truck doors open and run a dehumidifier all night.
