I've driven both and I must say those extra features are nice to have, especially the blind spot monitors that are part of the tech pkg.

There's a few rear bumpers that retain the BSM sensors and sonar, the tech package is worth the money.

oh, wow. I need to do more research! I saw somewhere that the sonar wouldn’t work through metal bumpers or something. Good to know

    Little off topic
    :crapstorm:

I am considering going the trade-in route even with those prices beginning to come back down to earth. I am in Maine w/ a '17 SR5 DCLB w/ 91k on the clock. Just found an essentially identical '16 at a different dealer than I ordered a '21 through that has a '16 w/ 116k on the clock and they're still asking 32k for it. I have a number in mind that if they offer it, I'll take it but seeing what the second dealer is asking for a truck with 15000 more on the odometer has me thinking I should move my magic trade in number up a bit.

*edit: my '21 is scheduled to be built 8/2, told ~2wks for delivery.

As far as I know, there is currently only 1 BSM compatible aftermarket rear bumper still in production, and it's made by @Apogee Offroad . Here's a link to the bumper on their site: https://www.apogeeoffroad.com/shop/p/toyota-tacoma-rear-bumper-gen3

They have been working on a new version that will incorporate modular swing arms, but it's still in the testing phase. There are about a dozen of us in another thread that are waiting for production to begin so we can place our orders. :spending: Here's that thread, if you want to follow the details on that design: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/apogee-3rd-gen-tacoma-rear-bumper-dual-swing-thread.689828/

I'm kind of in this boat, i like my 2019 accord 2.0 lease but Vroom offered what i paid 2 years ago, trade in at dealer seems to be about 2k less. I don't know how long i could drive a gen 1 tacoma around as said beater.
You should reach out to Toyota Corp. That's low, a few negative reviews should cheer you up.
Congrats thats an amazing price. Was just at the local dealer and they had a Off road access cab available selling for Msrp 41,396 no room to negotiate.

I think it depends. I put $500 down on a truck last December and they only had me sign a purchase order to hold that particular truck. I ended up passing on it and I eventually purchased one in June. For that one I negotiated all the financing and signed the paperwork to purchase ahead of time and made my deposit. Once it came up they updated the paperwork to the actual sale date and I was out of there.

@KTMBoiler I never dealt with the finance office when I put my deposit down. Walked in, spoke with a salesman. Told him exactly what I wanted and that I fully expected to wait ~3-4mo for it. He printed the spec sheet, handed me off to a sales manager and I was out the door in well under and hour. Now, they may try to throw a "market adjustment" on that MSRP when it shows up and if they do, ta-ta!

Costco Auto Program, they located the vehicle I wanted, made a trade with another dealership, and offered $500 off MSRP. Also paid $1,795 for 100k/10yr Toyota Extra Care Warranty:

    1. Year, trim, color, transmission, bed: 2021, SR5, Double, Super White, Automatic, 5 foot bed, V6, 2WD
    2. MSRP (before dealer add-ons): $33,734
    3. Options: All-Weather-Floor Liners
    4. Cost of add-ons: $169
    5. Price before Tax Title License (TTL) including incentive/rebate: $33,403
    6. Discount: 1-(#5/#2)*100=% off MSRP): 1%
    7. Incentive (rebate/customer cash): NA
    8. Price Out The Door (OTD): $37,659
    9. Trade in vehicle(year, make, model, trim): NA
    10. Kelley blue book trade-in value: NA
    11. Trade allowance(amount given for trade): NA
    12. Date purchased: 7/22
    13. State purchased: VA

Highly encourage using the Costco Auto Program if you have a qualifying dealership nearby in this competitive market. Good luck!

Called up my dealership to get a quote on a 21' Limited and they said there's only 9 sitting on lots on the entire East half of the US, and of course none in Voodoo Blue as I want. Lady said she would look out for one for me...... Delivery time of 12 to 14 weeks so very tempted to go into the dealership put a deposit down, see what rate my credit union will do for a loan as they seem better than what I've seen from Toyota offering on the Tacomas.

Thank you for that list, I will probably spend half of my work day looking at it haha. I am in New Hampshire and I suspected it would be a longer wait time, I really want to pull the trigger as my 08' Pilot has seen better days. Just need to navigate the best financing option, but with a 3 month lead time, that does make it all more manageable.

Check out Portsmouth Toyota. I thought about going through them when I started looking. They seem to have more pull with the mothership--at least they seem to always have a few on the lot and their site has a high turn over of Tacomas. PLUS I've seen quite a few Limiteds on their site, though most have been DCLBs if that matters to you.

    I'm in central Maine fwiw.

@gsubioguy A fellow New Englander! I was thinking of going there first as it's pretty close to me and my grandparents got a good deal on their RAV4 of there a few years back. I feel like either way I won't find what I want on the lot, as Limited plus Voodoo Blue already pretty rare and I would want the short bed. Figure if I'm going to be driving it for the next ten plus years might as well get it exactly how I want. Maybe even the TRD Lift Kit can they can install it....
