I posted this originally in the 3rd Gen forum, but haven't gotten any replies:

I noticed that my 2018 Tacoma Access Cab Off Road has tapered leaf spring shims installed from the factory. I will be installing 2" tapered blocks shortly, in conjunction with my TRD lift. Should I remove the OEM tapered leaf spring shims since the blocks are tapered?

Or should I just get squared up regular lift blocks in lieu of the tapered ones and keep the factory tapered shims installed?

I don't think anyone can say what is the right way to go. The issue at hand is not screwing up your driveline angles, and get vibes and wearing out u-joints. Get a digital angle finder, measure angles before and after, and start digging in to driveline setup.

I would not install 2” blocks, 1” max. Regardless, suggest pulling the original shims. See how it goes. Add the shims back in if vibration occur.

Thanks. I think that before/after angles of the driveshaft is a good idea. I didn't really think of that. I'm going to order a carrier bearing drop kit and possibly install that if needed too.

Thanks. I do want to keep the current OEM rake. I'm getting ready to install just the shocks from the TRD lift kit, going 2" up in front. I don't want to level the truck so am going 2" up with tapered blocks for the back. Not a hard off roader. Mainly pavement.
