This place only exist so we can shit on people. Shame on you for denying us that. But outside of that I hope it’s OK and it’s not too bad of a repair. Take care

Wouldn't you know it. Chipping the slag off my last pass on a piece I was fixing, and a big ol chunk landed in my elbow as I was holding the part.

Just kidding. However, I know three things about electricity 1. It could kill you 2. It could burn your house down 3. If all you know is #1 and #2 call electrician.
Jokes aside though, I do know some functions and diagnostics with a multi meter, how to change a light switch, receptacle or even a breaker in a panel. Bot much else though.

I used to fix a lot of “oh I can do that, I don’t need an electrician”

Some people to realize it's more like "oh, somebody could probably do that. But not me."

In the plant I worked at it seemed most electrical (and plumbing) work had been done by drunk monkeys on a Saturday morning after an all night bender. (AKA: F:censored:g idiots)

When you can turn on/off a light from 2 locations like a stairwell is called a 3 way circuit, there were only 3 in the plant -- 2 were wired incorrectly. :annoyed: Come on folks, the diagrams come with the switch!

About the same here. My grandpa taught me how to wire outlets and single pole switches. I don't know anything about multimeters. I just know enough to be dangerous.

I'll probably end up shutting off the breaker, taking the wall panel off and double checking the wire nuts and taping them back up. But only if the 20-30 minute reset doesn't work.
