Apparently a method thieves are using to steal cars and trucks now is tapping in to the OBDII port and programming a blank keyfob. Apparently the OBDII port will give the thieves the keycode and its a very "simple" matter of reprogramming a fob and voila they now drive away with your vehicle. Ive been searching but having very little luck finding these OBD locks the police suggest to use for my 2017 Toyota Tacoma. Im going to get a steering wheel lock as well but i would like to get an OBD lock to,

Or are there any other ideas like hidden fuel pump cut off switches etc.

cant answer your question but if you're that concerned with vehicle theft and you have keyless entry then dont forget to put your keyfob into the "disabled" mode at night as thieves can also use a repeater to extend your keyfobs range to access the vehicle. i believe the process is to *Hold down on the lock button and then push the unlock button twice.

    That’s the one I use.
+ cover your VIN at the windshield. That way they can’t take a pic of it and cut a key.

I seen something awhile back that essentially replaced the port with a dummy port and you relocate stock where you’d like

If I were a thief I'd just tow it away.

None of your trinkets will help then.

Surprised this isn’t more common. Seems like the easiest way to do it, and doubtful anyone is going to question a tow truck hauling something away.

I'm gonna say this isn't as common or as big of a deal as you're thinking it is.

You have to be able to turn the ignition on for TechStream to interface with the vehicle, and to program a new key.

Assuming whatever device the thief is using would still need the ignition on for the port to be active.

    Bingo.

If they are at the point of fooling around with the port.....they have your truck.

Exactly. You need the car turned on part way to be able to add a key. If they get that far I am sure your car is gone.

They cant get Tow trucks onto Department of Defense property without a escort, but we have had vehicles driven right off before. Fuckers are getting bold.

Take pictures of and catalog all mods/accessories. Have insurance with a reputable company. Sleep sound knowing you are covered.

LOL the OBD port. My buddy’s a locksmith, he bought a Highlander at the same time I got my truck… then a shit ton of Toyota/Lexus thefts happened around us (bunch of Tacos and Highlanders stolen) so he ranted and raved about how I needed one. I told him I don’t really care cause I’m sure AC MTs aren’t high up on their wanted list… he got me one anyway. *shrug*

Edit; some misinformation going on in this thread, but I don’t care enough to correct people on a truck forum.

you know it takes 10 seconds to go to the website and look at the video on how its installed to answer your own question. Seems like a more mature approach instead of just laughing something off.
