If anyone's curious to regear to 5.29 on a 3rd gen with RWD and locker, ECGS quoted me a little less than $1.5k out the door. Sounds like a solid deal, definitely gonna be my next big purchase. They did mention that parts are backordered a good bit rn though. I really hope production levels get back to normal for everything sometime this year

I took advantage of a day off and plastidipped my grill. Then built a simple unistrut rack to carry my kayaks and paddle boards

Hi everyone, I recently bought a 2005 Tacoma 2.7L manual transmission 4wd access cab w/ 180,000 miles and a fair amount of rust on many of the components. The truck needs the clutch replaced as well as several of the suspension components (struts and upper/lower control arms). I have purchased all of the parts to swap, just need someone to do the labor. Most shops around the Atlanta area won't touch this job due to the rust. Does anyone have a recommended shop or reliable independent mechanic/Tacoma enthusiast that would be willing to help? Any recommendations appreciated! I'm also willing to travel and help with the work (I am fairly mechanically minded, just mostly oriented towards motorcycles)Thanks!

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
What’s up y’all. Looking for a cheap ride for my employee. Anyone selling an old car/truck?

    Pics of said rust?

As for recommended shops, most people seem to love Greer Automotive Services.

How bad is the rust? And if you have any rust then your cam/alignment bolts are most certainly rusted and frozen in there. They will probably need to be cut out so, if you haven't already got new ones for each side then you might want to before you start the job b/c you won't be able to finish without them if you do have to cut the old ones out.

Would appreciate some advice on what rear shocks I’d need to make this set up work.
Currently have a 3 inch block with these shocks, Will be soon swapping out the block for All Pro Expo leaf pack, flip kit, and possibly adding a 2 inch block. Will my current 5125 work or do I need something with more travel?
    No serious off-roading.

Well it says those 5125s are extended rear shocks that are good for 2"-3.5" of lift, so really depends on how high you're gonna be sitting in the back. Isn't the all pro expo pack a 3" leaf pack? If so, that plus a 2" block would have you sitting at 5". In that case you'll need even longer rear shocks

That’s what I thought too. I was reading old threads and guys were running 24” extended shocks with just as much lift. I don’t know too much about shock values

Your shocks will essentially turn into a limiting strap for your rear. They will be fully extended and your suspension will not be. So when you hit a bump and your suspension compresses, when it unloads/rebounds it will want to do so fully but can't once it reaches the limits of your shock at full extension. This will not be a great ride, unless you never hit bumps ever. You will also not get the full benefits of the lift hight of the spring/block combo you are using b/c the shock will limit that.

That’s what will happen if I run the 5125 I currently have, correct? So I need to search for a shock that has a higher extended value. I don’t think I will ever have the rear fully compressed, if I have to also take that into consideration.

Most likely, I'm not positive b/c I don't know the full extended length of that shock but I can only image it isn't long enough to accommodate a 3inch lift spring plus a 2 in block.

Any reason you’re wanting to run a 2” block with a replacement leaf pack that nets a 3” lift?

Seems like the easier solution is to omit the block. Assuming you aren’t plus 5” up front.

Curious if anyone knows what tire size I would be able to go up to. Just completed the rear suspension on my truck and I am running a 265 70 16 toyo open country. I am looking at the cooper st maxx the Yokohama mt and the bfg km3. I am running suspension is eibach pro lift with the ome hd rear leaf pack.

Unfortunately no truck is the same. I had the eibach pro lift on the 2nd setting and 265 75 16 on my last truck and would still rub sometimes even though it looked like I had a lot of clearance. Some people have 285s and say they dont rub.

Spot on. The rear is to accommodate the front. I currently have spindles up front and will be adding some Toytec coils I just picked up. So the front is looking to be around 6ish lift
