What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

So, I think I have a bad wheel bearing, low pitched hum and slight vibrations coming from the driver front, gets worse when I turn left. Has gotten worse over the past week.
Jacked up the front end of the truck
driver front spins perfectly fine, no noises, no wobbles, no play up and down or side to side
passenger side drags a little bit at the same point each rotation, sounds like a caliper dragging (which I suspected I had, started before the current noise and vibration), but other than that spins fine
Manual hubs, unlocked, CVs arent dragging. I have no clue what this could be, any ideas?

I drove to the Ford Parts lot in my Tacoma and the ol' lady behind the counter looks at me and spouts out "You know this is a Ford dealership?"
The thought of "no $hit, sherlock!" came to mind but I thought better of it and just left it.
Still got the right stuff...

Probably not. However, I will reinforce and fix the factory welds around the lower shock mount tabs.

 

I guess I missed it, why the muffler and a resonator? Do you also have a CAT?

 

Got a wheel bearing question for y’all!
I got new Toyota 4x4 hubs, bearings etc.
I dropped off all my new OEM parts to be assembled in some Prerunner knuckles at the Toyota dealer. Then the service advisor called to tell me they were the “wrong parts”. They were both convinced you couldn’t replace a 2wd hub with a splined 4wd hub. Then I argued with him and the technician about whether or not the knuckles were the same.I convinced them to “try”.
Picked them up today.
R side has rotational drag, left seems ok?
Neither spacers turn freely.

Thought? Good news? Bad news? Arson?

 

Any way to fix this without ruining new parts? Or am I sol?

 

Are your originals showing fatigue cracks at the rivets? Our trucks have similar mileages and similar experiences.

My originals do have cracks, but the cracks are all related to the lower shock mount tabs. My rivets show no signs of metal fatigue.

I am pretty sure the eimkeith kit is designed to address the scenario you are asking about. @cynicalrider

 

One of the few places I have not discovered a crack on my truck yet.

 

I have both cats. But its a 14” short muffler exiting behind the cab, and I cruise at 3700 rpm on the highway. Hoping to avoid drone.

exactly this. Plus it makes it slide easier on shit, and for the price it’s cheap insurance.

 

Well I found my issue with that noise and vibration....

 

The resonator is a nice addition and will definitely remove any drone and still offer good flow thru. I added one along with a new 18" magnaflow to my rig. Quieted it down significantly. But its starting to come back a little.

I had previously removed the upstream cat and with a blown out high mileage 18" magnaflow in there, it was loud, real loud. Now you can still hear it but the neighbors no longer hear me coming a couple of blocks away.

I’m got the LCAS I took off the 02 if you need some.

I doubt they have cracks but can triple check if you want em

 

Thanks, I got a used set when I picked up my spare spindles.

I also got some OEM brake calipers and ABS hub sensor wires/connector thingies if anyone is in need.

 

I have ran without a CAT for several years now. And in that time I have burned through four mufflers. And each time it ends up sounding like a tractor, I hate it.
Now the reason I lost my CAT was the TRD headers didn't bolt up to the CAT so I had it removed. I have been thinking about putting a CAT back on and replacing the whole exhaust, I want quiet.
