Toyota installed an aftermarket lift kit from amazon instead of TRD on ordered truck.

    A. Very common for dealers to have trucks in the showroom with a $200 spacer lift marked up to $2000. Also common for dealers to do "builds" with a roof top tent, bed rack, hitch-mounted BBQ, etc. at wildly marked up prices, but it wouldn't consistute fraud.
    B. Agreed. Getting the lift removed and money refunded is @corymiiller's best course of action IMO, assuming the dealer will actually refund him.
    C. Not an actual build sheet. It's a fantasy build using Toyota's web site. I can go on Jeep's website, build a $70k Rubicon, and generate a PDF. It doesn't bind any dealer to anything.

These parts were not on the window sticker, it was on the "We Owe".

3 years from now, all they'll have is a bill of sale with no accessories listed, so?

I guarantee you no attorney will take this case on contingency like a personal injury case. They will want a retainer up front that will far exceed the cost of what the dealer offered to charge to upgrade to the TRD lift kit. At $200-300 an hour you will blow past that number just for the lawyer to review the documents the OP signed. Even if all the OP wanted was for the lawyer to guide him through the small claims court process it would cost way more than just paying to fix it. And you can't just claim mental anguish/emotional distress. You have to prove it actually exists, which means medical reports from doctors or therapists, witnesses, etc. I also would not want to be the one going up in front of a judge trying to claim that not getting my TRD lift kit caused enough mental anguish to require medical care and is severe enough to require a damage award. It may feel good to posture and say get a lawyer, sue them, make them pay, but unless you have enough money to take a match to just to make yourself feel good by getting even, it's not a viable solution.

I meant that it doesn’t sound like the “TRD lift” was on the window sticker, or else the OP would have an open and shut case. But now I’m curious if he received the sticker at all.

$46k for an OR?! Have prices gone up that much in one year? I paid $10k less for my 2020 OR. Does $46k not buy one a Pro?

OP, plenty of people on here have lifts with no TSS or warranty issues. Your TSS system might just need a tweak and your warranty might be intact . You might be worrying too much about that.

I do think you got mislead, but I also think you failed to inspect what you picked up. Since the dealer offered to take the lift off and refund the cash, I'm not sure what you are fretting about. What are you expecting the dealer to do?

OP bought a stock truck with a bunch of accessories installed by the dealer after delivery. It wasn't factory-installed or port-installed equipment, so it would never appear on the Monroney sticker.

Well let’s put it this way…if the sticker said “TRD lift”, then we could say he got hosed by the dealer, yes? I think that was the original point of the question, for whoever asked about the sticker, a hundred or so posts ago.

That's neither here nor there. The Monroney sticker is on the truck prior to it arriving at the dealer. Even if the dealer-installed TRD lift was documented properly, it would be on the bill of sale or lease agreement, and not on the sticker.

It surprises me that the stickers are affixed prior to delivery to the dealer, because I’ve seen dealer-installed options on them before while car shopping with the wife. Unless those options are somehow established prior to delivery. But anyway, if it’s as you say, you’re right, no bearing on this situation.

Lol… Research? Toyota absolutely does sell their own TRD branded lift kit. Its literally called ‘TRD Lift Kit’ and the actual Toyota part number is PT84K-35221.
Adjustable shocks in front for 2” and 1” spacer in rear. Along with additional TSS module and Pro grille with camera mount. Most likely rebranded Bilstein 5100’s with TRD logos, but for sure not from a PRO . This is what OP assumed he was getting. It’s shown in the options section on the Tacoma site, with an approximate retail cost of $1250 before labor.

Installing Amazon parts doesn’t void warranty. The warranty is on the truck Toyota built, not the modifications. If he goes rock climbing on a spacer lift vs stock and breaks something, it wont get covered anyway.
If the dealer did a crappy job and installed the TRD front hats upside down causing suspension damage , the dealer eats that. Toyota wont cover that under warranty.

Lol. Of course. The TRD lift is rebranded Bilstein. The tailgate extender and retractable bed step is AMP Research, the TRD air filter isnt made by Toyota but by AFE. But once they put their logo on it, its fair play and cant be considered a non-oem part.
