Looking for recommendations on an exhaust upgrade for the 4.0. I am looking for a mild noise increase with a deep tone. Nothing obnoxious. Don't want to hear it too much going down the road, just want to hear it at idle and acceleration. I have watched around on youtube but the audio is never the best so it makes it difficult to justify the right one for me. Whats the best option? cat back? muffler or the off road tail pipe cut? What does everyone think? TIA!

I would say there is no "best" option when it comes to exhaust, it's all about what works for you.
A simple muffler swap will be cheapest.
That being said I'm running a 3 in Magnaflow cat back system on mine and I'm happy with it, no drone on the road, nice sound at idle, and gets pretty loud when you get on it.

Ok, thanks. I think I might look into muffler swap just because I want a small upgrade

    Never enough
Seconded. I went to a local muffler shop and they cut my exhaust off to dump above the axle and welded in a Magnaflow muffler. Sounds great and cost about $150. Took em 30 minutes.

If you search around, you can find a 2nd Gen TRD Exhaust for about $350. Don’t know if it includes shipping. Might be the pipe you’re looking for

Careful, everyone is going to call you a silly boy racer and make jokes about making noise for nothing. Looooots of old farts around here. In my opinion a good fat magnaflo and a resonator will do you good. I'm running it on my 4 banger and no, it's not an awful noisy issue for my neighbors. It's fun as shit to drive and no it does not sound like a civic.

Go right to the dealership if you go trd performance… I got mine for $365 and they didn’t charge for shipping and had it the next day

I recently swapped on an Aero Turbine 2525 XL, and love it. No drone and gives a super mild growl at idle, perfect for a V6 honestly. The install was easy, did it myself at a buddy's shop (a lift made it very very easy lol). Just used clamps to mount the muffler (stainless) to the stock piping and welded on a 24" piece of 2.5" pipe from O'reileys to take up extra space. 2 Universal exhaust hangars to the frame mounts that are side by side and it was done. Couple of hours, like 200 bucks, and a case of beer for the boys at the shop.

Don't expect any performance gains, but the smiles per mile are there!!!
