Alright guys. It's that time. I need to replace the battery in my truck. I actually had to jump start it this morning. That sucked! My wife's Highlander did the job. Embarrassing actually, but no one noticed at 3:40 in the morning. So what do you guys have or recommend? I could go back to Sears but risk paying a lot for a battery (checked today-$139.99). Other options could include Pep Boys, Kragen auto parts or even Auto Zone. Looking at batteries like Exide, Optime, etc. Any help would be highly appreciated. Im looking at the ads tomorrow so I can shop on Black Friday and do my part to help the economy. Thanks fellow Taco brothers.

Is this the 8020-164 Optima Red Top Battery? or should I be looking for another kind? I've got to be able to google the lowest price as well. Thanks!

optima red top ftw! you won't have to buy a battery for at least 2-3 years. spend the coin $120-$140, and don't look back. Yellow top is good as well, red top has more CCA's.

Since your on the left coast and cold weather starts are pretty slim, whatever is cheapest, you just need it to start, not do the dishes.

We had a redtop in our Grand Cherokee and it lasted for maybe 3-4 years. Not sure if that's good or bad for a red top. We have a yellow top in our Jeep. It's been in our jeep for about 4 years now. We bought the yellow top because of the winch. The jeep sits in the garage for months on-end and it cranks right up. It's been dead once (I left the lights on) and we charged it up and it's still just as good after the recharge.

For a daily driver - You don't necessarily need an Optima priced battery unless you plan on running a lot of accessory power items and/or install a winch. The yellow top Optimas are awesome!

Can't go wrong with jsut about any popular name brand battery.

The best battery ever is the Optima battery. I have 3 of them in my boat.

1 of my optimas is 7 years old & still going strong. I use my boat 9 months out of the year.

They can handle being bounced around unlike traditional batteries.

FYI Optima = Gel Cells, and Noob batteries = lead/acid. You can Turn an optima battery upside down and nothing will leak out, due the the "Gel spiral cells".

    http://www.optimabatteries.com/off_road/find_your_optima/

"That’s why the OPTIMA RedTop offers 16X the vibration resistance and up to 2X the life of ordinary batteries. Plus, it's leakproof, highly resistant to heat and cold, and can be stored for long periods without any maintenance. Let’s just say it was made to take a good spanking in the dirt. Whether you’re rock crawling, desert racing or just playing in the mud." ~ OPTIMA
