Has anyone on here with the 2trfe had to replace the crankshaft position sensor? No cel on the dash, but I've noticed lately I am down 1 to 1.5 mpg. So I pulled out my scanner and sure enough it has thrown P0339. I cleared the code, but it has come back. Other than the code( and no cel) it seems to run fine. Minus the slightly worse mpg.

Is this a hard change out? Could it possibly just be a loose connection?

A loose connection or faulty wiring is a possibility unfortunately the only proper way to test the sensor is with a scope, you can do a resistance check and a visual inspection but that's about it.
Have you noticed an extended crank, that's pretty common to have if the crankshaft position signal is missing.
Looks like it lives down behind the A/C compressor bracket.

No extended cranks that I've noticed.
I'll be honest, pulling all of that off to get to the sensor looks like a pita. I may just let it ride for the time being. Lol I will however check for loose connections and throw a little dielectric grease in there.

Don't. Dielectric means 'does not' conduct electricity.
