damm. I had an iphone for about two weeks and dumped it for the Android Samsung Captivate.

I have flashed custom ROMS that allow the phone to do more than any iPhone can do. I have real notifications rather than little boxes. it's MY device.

    can use ANY USB cable

I can copy anything to and from it without "iTunes permissions" from any PC anytime or place.

I can simply hotswap a battery rather than rationing the use to conserve battery life.

I can insert a 16GB card I can fill with what I please and share what I want though BT with anyone...

I can open and run many apps in the BG without worrying about apps closing or battery life.

Custom ROMS and kernels are actually BETTER than OTA updates from the manufacturer
I can completely clear and flash a ROm or wipe the phone and reflash and reinstall all applications from the wireless cloud without any PC.

Gmail syncs perfectly, all or some FB and Twitter contacts can be joined in my contact list with their pictures and updates.

Don;t get me started on the pregnant Itouch they call the iPad....Jobs is a smart guy indeed. The only thing I want with the Apple name on it is an Apple stock certificate LOL

I really don't "get it" I guess it's one of those "if you have to ask, you wouldn't understand" things regarding Apple and their products.

If you REALLY need your phone to do all of that, then cool. Go with the Android. I personally don't need my phone for anything other than to call/text people and occasionally surf the internet. My computer handles all that other crap.

The "problem" with the Captivate is you HAVE to do what Android allows and MAKE it yours. Learn to flash custom ROMS. Android is open so the developers are doing a great job and its all free and open source.

Stock Captivate has major GPS issues...solved by developers
Captivate had speaker volume issues solved by developers
All issues can be solved by those writing custom ROMS. not simply "jailbreaking" but completely rewriting the OS and function of the device.

If one wants simple "plug and play" I guess no one does it better than Apple..at a price of money and freedom of use.

Real world research has determined Apple is not as reliable as their "image" suggests.

    http://blog.squaretrade.com/2009/LaptopReliability/image1.jpg

Slightly better than Dell and worse than Sony, Toshiba and Asus

I like my iPod. Apple can keep the rest, I'm not missing a thing.

some samsung phones are kinda cool and alright, but i feel if i was gonna get a phone with android it would HTC. i feel they make stout quality phones. the thing i like about apple is theyre the only people that make phones with their OS so they control quality and know its done right.

Your phone will do far more than iPhone...LOL

This one will be really nice

    http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/U...d-Services/Mobile-Phones/Motorola-ATRIX-US-EN

Completely agree. Having come from Nokia unlocked N95.N97s The captivate was the best Android device ATT had to offer. I bought a couple of 32Gb 3GS iphones for $299 and sold them for $1300 on ebay after trying them for a couple weeks. Then bought the N97 until the Captivate was offered.

I perfer mobile centric companies like HTC and Motorola. That is why I am watching the reviews and see what the developers do with the Atrix when it arrives. I am not a big fan of Samsung....but it still better than iPhone or at least I made it better.

ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.
As a mac pro user I can say you get what you pay for. I sit behind this thing all the time editing photos, (and sometimes reading here) I run photo shop, lightroom, pandora and anything else I can think of. my old dell could not keep up. Plus its a preference thing. I personally really like my mac, if you hate apple no one here will change your mind.

hahaha do you look at consumer reports as well? i find these surveys are shit and the only way to really find out is first hand experiences and you determine whats best for you.
