Same thing happened to my 2007 about 12 years ago when it sat overnight after I had washed it the day before.... wouldn't budge. After giving it more gas it made a load bang noise and freed up... hasn't happened since.

Mine wouldn’t budge in gear (I didn't want to push it as I was in an underground parking garage). Ended up just pushing back and forth by hand in N, ebrake released, all good. Has not happened since 2 years ago.

When i bought my 2020 truck, and they pushed the extended 10 year 100k mile warranty on me, it was strange...they claimed this exact problem could happen. Either a ecu transmission failure, or the torque converter itself. Its like they already had the problem. They warned me the electronics are not covered by the 5 year powertrain warranty, the extended warranty would be.

Like a 3rd gen has enough torque to make the truck squat..... You funny!!!

Why would the OP's Truck have stored Codes and require a computer replacement if his brakes were stuck?

I don’t think the codes had anything to do with the stuck e-brake. The OP took it to the dealership and found the codes during the trouble shooting. My 2005 and my 2020 has the same drum brakes and they both seized up when parked for a few hours after getting the brakes wet. The brake lever will feel slack because the cable will not have tension when you try to release the e-brake…. If brake shoes were still made with asbestos this would not happen….. but I rather have healthy lungs.. lol

As others have stated, im thinking frozen ebrake, the codes just happen to be there, but are not related. They can rust or freeze with water, either one causes the same problem.

Here is what happened to my truck after washing it and putting on the parking brake overnight in the winter. I put it in 4lo just to get them to break free.

After that first time that the ebrake freezes/seizes and you know what caused it, it never happens again. :)

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Not likely to resolve the issue - if I'm not mistaken rear discs still have drum-type parking brake inside the rotor.

What?! And get rid of the beloved drum brakes? But the drums are so great; you know know, for keeping dirt and mud out of the brakes. This 1940s technology is perfect on a 2021 $40K+ truck...;)

Yeah, It had happened a few times before to me that winter. My driveway is a pretty high angle, so parking on in the winter will sometimes end with the truck just sliding down into the street. I started using the parking brake and it wouldnt slide, but the brake would freeze on. Now I just leave the truck in 4wd on the driveway in the winter.

Not all of them, some just simply mechanically operate the caliper.

I never use the e brake except when setting it when putting my boat in, or loading my snowmobile on the trailer in the winter. So far its been working very smooth. My 2001 tundra never worked from day 1 unless i removed the drums to lubricate those parking brake cable levers, and even then they were good for a couple days before freezing solid. I always carried a spray can of penetrating oil, and a 4 lb hammer to beat those drum levers loose if i needed the e brake.

Something to keep in mind with the parking brake, its self adjusting, so you should probably pull it every once in a while or you'll end up like the guy who threw his truck in park while moving because the brakes didnt work.

It sounds like frozen e-brake to me too. I think it should have been more obvious that the rear axle was frozen rather than the torque converter not engaging though. Was the engine under load? Anyway, if it happens again and it’s obvious the engine is under load you can try these things:

    1) put it in 4lo and gently try to go forward and then backward to free it up
    2) use your foot or a soft hammer to apply some blunt force to the drum brakes.
