Its a popular offroad place in AZ called Sycamore Creek. Some dude thought it would be a good idea to go offroading in a river bed right after it rained during monsoon season while there's flash flood warnings. Unfortunately hes not the only one as people get stuck here every year, and some unfortunately lose their lives

Here's some video's of people being rescued this year with a fanboat and helicopter https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/m...attend-illegal-party-in-tonto-national-forest

Running boards, have found drainage plugs underneath and have drained the water out. Its just getting a once over from a mechanic right now, will post pics of the drainage plug later.

I think I would have to remove the rocker covers and investigate where water got in from above since it didn't come out without pulling those plugs.
My 03 had a small amount of panel sealant missing on passenger side only that allowed water in from a clogged cowl drain and leak from under cowling below windshield.

There are drains in the rockers, the water can go up those drains too, and if as the water is coming out something plugs the drains it will not drain out all the way. You can see the drains in this picture right on the pinch weld.

Not sure if people are being sarcastic or not with this pic.
But this truck would 100% be written off right away by my insurance company.

All clear, they were really good, had her up on the lift and showed me what they'd checked and where some muck had collected. Waters all gone now, wouldnt even know anything had happened.

hello my dude, yes they were very helpful. What I learned most importantly is a good respect for water crossings, that and to use the little rubber drain plugs underneath the truck. I've been on many many offroad adventures since this post was made and always measure water before i cross!!

I would drain your rear differential as the breather cap is mounted directly on the differential, so is not elevated. if the oil looks good, you can just put it back in and if it looks at all milky, then you know you did the right thing Elevating the breather cab is an easy modification shown right here on Tacoma world

100% mate, this happened a couple years ago but thats what I did. Ended up replacing the rear diff oil anyway as it was underfilled. Side note the fill bolt on those rear diffs come bloody welded on from the factory!

Had a similar situation ever since my truck was new i had driven thru water deep enough to immerse the breather on the rear axle. Granted it was never longer than 5-10 seconds but at 11k i drained my rear diff oil, grabbed a sample from the drain stream, and sent it to the lab for testing. The laboratory said they did not find any water in the oil.
