That's a horrible idea. What time?
Have you ever wondered if your truck can do 70 mph through the median in 2WD, stay straight, and get back on the road?

    It can.

Spent the rest of the 40 miles driving to work this morning trying to lower my blood pressure and conducting a risk / benefit analysis of an assault charge. Decided against it.

Probably a good thing my steel bumper wasn't on.

Regular stuff. About $16 per can. Less than $70 in primer and Raptor. Cleaned and degreased in the driveway.

Cool, cool. The 2K stuff is $40/can. I've been using it during Project Pinstripe Protection for smaller pieces. Hoping to try the spray gun version this weekend on my front fenders.

I looked at that, and if I hadn't already done the bumper in roll on, may have gone that way instead. But then I'd have an overspray issue to deal with as my paint booth is the garage.

On the topic of paint… Cast Blast for the cast iron grey look. I think it looks dead sexy depending the parts painted, IMO.

After driving 70-77mph for 25mins/34mins total drive, trans temp got as 193, but the 200+ only is happening in the afternoon...which leads me to BMac's quote below:
Guess I'll need to pull the rear and top trim pieces and hose it for twice as long as I did yesterday evening...assuming the temps tip over 200s on the afternoon commute home.

I know there was mention of standstill traffic throwing in N and rpms at 2500 helps cool things down...so thanks for the tip!

EDIT: looks like prime temp testing conditions already!Screenshot_20210728-115403_Wunderground.jpg

No doubt. When I got my ultragauge a few years ago, I had to add in the formula for engine temp. I wasn't super clear on what was reporting the temp back then, and I'm definitely not sure now haha. It's been on my list to figure out.

The cans don't cover much so it gets expensive. And this would be one of those rare occasions where it's nice to have a gravel driveway. The gravel near my garage is extra-tough! :D

It's been a while since I've been out that way but it's a good time I was on street tires and didn't have any issue on this.

On my scan gauge im monitoring pre/post trans cooler, coolant temp, and battery voltage. If you had to program it in, im going to guess its trans temp

Ultragauge engine temp was actually the engine temp for me, and the trans temp is the pan temperature. I don't think ultragauge has a converter temp. You can see converter temp with torque pro

The converter temp can be anywhere from 5-20* hotter while going up a hill. With converter locked, they would eventually normalize to the same

The A/T temp light comes on at 300*, which is beyond spicy

Also just as a note, I'm pretty sure the fluid doesn't run through the cooler in reverse, and the converter is unlocked, so don't back up a big hill. Happened to a guy on T4R he backed up for like 2 miles and the light came on

The cases I saw had 6 cans (more spray than I would use), a spray gun for your compressor, and the additive to harden it for about $140. I used 3.5 cans at about $16. I like that math.

Ah. So there's rattle can variants that are two part. They're labeled 2k. That's what I've been using currently (making sure we're both talking apples). The air sprayer stuff is expensive. I'm about to try that this weekend. What I did was buy the spray gun separately and then bought two bottles with hardener. I may not be doing it the cheap way, but at least I'm not left with a bunch of extra that'll go bad.

I'm a fan of the Rustoleum rust reformer for the skids. Coloration is nice and holds up pretty well. Even blends in the scratches and gouges well. Pic is just after 1 touch-up coat today.
