Tig aluminum is hard as fuck. It's very easy to see the puddle on steel, but it's a ghost on AL

    For realz

My instructor told me welding aluminum is like lighting two sheets on paper on fire, sticking them together, then putting the flames out before the paper disintegrates LOL

4Runner and Tacoma would be the same.

The axle housing is different, not the third.

8.4 vs 8.0 I know the truss present on the tacoma isn't on the 4r but didn't realize the 4r was a 4 pinion thus didn't have any gaping holes to stick metal and weld in

I dont really weld that much anymore. Only here and there since Im the dedicated company controls tech/sparky. Im much happier seeing someone else do the welding these days.

They weld fine, you should be welding the spiders together and then putting a plate on either side between them and welding that in too. Turn it up, also if you have trouble with welding two chunks of metal this is a bad project for you

You can take it further apart and weld it.

You can also weld the spider gears to the case at every window and pray

Turn it to the larger opening, and drain multiple cans of non-chlor brake cleaner all around in it, if its greasy it wont end up well

I can only weld the passenger side spider to the carrier and the other spiders, which in theory should be good enough but meh
