So I just wanted to post some knowledge and hopefully help out someone who might be going through the same thing I went through. My truck is a 2006 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4WD with 198,xxx miles.

It all started like this........from 1 day to the next my AC stopped working. I mean no air at all through the vents, not in AC mode, not in Air mode, not in Heater mode, etc. you get the picture. Some of the things I noticed were....my lights still worked on my AC panel, I could slightly here the AC clutch engaging and I noticed that the aluminum AC line under the hood was getting frosted. This puzzled the hell out of me.

I checked all fuses, swapped out fuses and AC control panels and nothing (used a friends Tacoma to do all the troubleshooting/swaps). Then my mom said, it's the Blower! I never even thought it might be the blower. A few wiggles on the wire and a tap on the bottom and BAM......it started working.

I took the glove box off, noticed there was some papers on the vent and my interior air filter needed to be replaced.

So instead of taking it to an AC shop and spending cash.......I took my mom's advice and solved my problem.

If your AC stops working from 1 day to the next and their is no air coming from your vents and your AC Panel lights work, and you can slightly hear your AC clutch engage and your AC line is getting frosted.......then you probably have a bad Blower or it's getting stuck. Tap the bottom of the AC Blower with your hand and wiggle the wires.......it worked for me.

Where is the AC Blower located.....well it's on the passenger side under the glove box. It has an electrical wire going to it and is held by 3 small 5.5 mm bolts.

I ordered a replacement from Rock Auto for about $50.00, it's the 4 Seasons brand.....there are some on ebay new and used. Cheapest was a used one for $30. Good luck and I hope this helps someone out there.

    Muy Grande Out!

should have went OEM, those cheap-o's are notorious for squeaking.

Hey Jimmy....never had a problem with AC speeds. Good info though. I'll check it out. But as of right now all speed levels work just fine.

QChawks - thought about OEM but it was 3 times more. Also, this is the Blower motor so going cheap here might be fine. If it were a sensor or critical part, I always go OEM. I have actually used Four Season products before in my old Toyota Pickup and they worked fine.

+ 1 jimmyh, very common and much more common than a motor. When he said that he wiggled the wires and it started, I just smiled.

I think I'm having the same problem. It just started a couple weeks ago where my AC fan won't turn on. I check all the fuses and they were fine. After I pulled out the air filter and wiggled the wires it started working again but a week later it won't turn on. I might have to do the 4 Seasons replacement as well?

Thread revival just because I looked at this when diagnosing mine.

If I apply pressure to the 4 pin connector that attaches to the blower motor, it starts working. I'm going to try a contact cleaner before considering replacing the blower motor.

Look closely at the connector for burned or melted pins

There is no 4 pin connector going to the blower motor.

There is a 4 pin connector going to the Blower Resistor inserted into the duct for cooling. There is a 2 wire connector going to the blower motor.

Check them both for excessive heating.
