Hey all, just bought a set of aftermarket tow mirrors so I can actually see around my trailer when I haul it in the winter. I want to leave them on year round, however the glass shakes when I’m going highway speed. At lower speeds there isn’t any shake. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I’ve seen plenty of threads on stock mirrors but nothing on tow mirrors. Thanks in advance!

Contact the company that makes them and complain.

I tried to get pictures I even tried to get a video on the highway but it looked smooth... maybe it’s my eyeballs vibrating instead?

Got one to shake less, tightened up the bolts behind it, the passenger side seems worse after tightening? Maybe I’ll try and tighten more after work today.

I wasn’t sure if you’re dealing with double sided tape or fasteners. Some mirrors are designed poorly and are going to vibrate. You could try rubber washers, fender washers, slightly bending pieces which may help or make it worse.

Honestly I have no clue... they’re some electric heated mirrors I bought off eBay. I just don’t want to break them taking them apart, I’m not sure if I just pull out or what I do

Alright got em apart, they’re fasteners. There wasn’t a single screw behind the glass that was fully tight. I tightened EVERYTHING. Actually stripped the plastic out for a few and had to replace with a bigger screw, but should be good, I’ll post an update tomorrow or later today as to whether it’s fixed or not.

It seems like the mirror itself where it folds in is loose and that probably makes it vibrate?

You ever figure it out? I need some tow mirrors, but clip on ones seem flimsy and i will just loose them, lol.

I haven’t, truth be told I just kinda deal with it now. I may take the glass off and see if I can glue some sort of weights on the top and bottom to keep them more solid. Have to see

I’m having the same problem with my turn signal mirrors I got off eBay.
I saved my old OEM mirrors and might try and replace those into the aftermarket ones. I did break the passenger aftermarket mirror doing this but luckily still had the OEM.

I never had issues with the clip on extension I used. 8k miles of use and I could see if there was a vehicle next to me even when moving at 70+mph

I believe when I posted this I had cheap eBay tow mirrors, since then I’ve updated to trail ridge tow mirrors, they still have shake, not as bad, but noticeable. It’s a hit or miss it seems like.

I did send Clear View Mirrors https://www.clearviewmirrorsusa.com/ an email asking if they ever planned to make some Tacoma mirror's, as they seem to make some quality ones. Seeing the make them for the Canyon and Colorado, weird to start off with the lower selling trucks. Response i got below.
