I never heard of that law either and I'm sure you'd be hard pressed to find an officer bothering to enforce that law.

Hahaha what??....chill man, no one is asking for anything free here. All I'm saying is auto headlights have been around for a looooong time, it's weird Toyota wouldn't put auto headlights on this lower trim but include auto highs....seems like they would want to do the opposite; make people pay for the newer tech(auto high beams) and put the auto headlights on the lower trims.

That makes sense from an oncoming traffic perspective, but not an in traffic perspective. It's entirely about visibility to others, not your own visibility. There have been times where a car has seemingly appeared out of nowhere in times of heavy downpour that I've felt like a miracle was the only thing that stopped me from my grill ending up on the wrong side of their driver's seat.

Not questioning what you've been told, law enforcement is often letter of the law not spirit of the law. All that said, turn on your damn lights when it's pouring. I want to see you before it's too late.
Wait, is that an option? WTF Japan?

Way back when I drove big red trucks I started having my lights on at all times. Still do.

Incorrect, my 21 OR is not premium, no leather, no sunroof and I have auto low beams setting and auto high beams button.

    A few.
Thats seems to be the case though toyotas website has the auto headlights showing in the premium packages when doing a build.

I'm guessing one of two things happened:
    1. Toyota made an inline change and decided auto headlights would be included for all models (or within the TRD trims)
    2. OEM LEDs come with auto headlights by default.

I have found that light reflection from a snow covered road will cause the auto high beams to dim.

So move the switch from auto to on and move on.
