Those are Wet Okole. Here's where I installed them, so you can see the process: The @mrs.turbodb Mod – Custom Wet Okole Seat Covers

There's a TW Group Buy twice a year. Search for Wet Okole in titles only and you'll find it. Then, look for the next one. Not cheap, but by far the best covers I've ever found.

I know, right? I wasn't sure it was possible either, but I figured it was worth a shot. Actually, I suspected it was possible when I looked into buying new bottoms and there was only one part number. Swapping wasn't too hard. The seat cover bottom would have swapped too, but I didn't do that since my driver cover is in better condition than the passenger. It seems that I'm less prone to spillage. (but don't tell her I said that :gossip:)

Also - the backs are swappable too (assuming you don't have any levers on your backs), but I didn't feel the need to do the back. The back covers (for me) are not swappable since I have the sunglasses pockets, and I want to keep those on the inside shoulders.

Just a few days ago I 'discovered' some wear in the Okole cover. My guess is it's from the butt slide I do when getting in and out. So this mod is perfect and is definitely in my future.

I am sure that structurally, my driver bottom (no pun intended) is fubar too. My passenger side seat has seen very light use over the years so it should be in great shape.

Sounds liked it’s in front of me, maybe somewhere in the dash or even the engine bay

no not really. I would kind of expect it to be more of a squeal if it were tire related

    Inspected the driveline yesterday…
    1. Should I be able to rotate the driveline by hand at all?
    2. From what I can visibly see the carrier bearing looks ok but I can push up on it about a good quarter inch or so.
I’m thinking new carrier bearing and all new u-joints.

Well you were absolutely right about this, I'll be ordering his dual bolt hanger set soon to correct it. It presses HARD against the bezel when up to operating temps.

That's unfortunate, I never realized how much the exhaust expands until he showed me that. Rubber hangers made so much sense after that. You might need a flex joint to keep that thing in the right outlet hole area.

You'd likely be better off with spacer blocks, in back. Just sayin.

I just had this issue with my 2nd Gen. The u-joints were bad. I have a drivetrain warranty, so I took it to the dealership. They replaced the u-joints. I left there and it had a pretty significant vibration on the interstate. I took it back and they ended up saying the driveshaft was unbalanced. Got a brand new driveshaft, carrier bearing, and u-joints covered under warranty. Squeaking sounds like bad u-joints to me. You could hear the squeaking coming from the u-joint when I jacked the truck up in the driveway and spun the tires slowly.

Ya I’ve kinda decided that the thud is my slip yoke and that the rattles and squeaks is my U-joints/carrier bearing. I asked two more questions this morning about whether or not I should be able to rotate the driveline by hand at all (assuming not?) and if I should have easy upward play on the carrier bearing.

Upward play in the center bearing is normal. I've got about half an inch as well. You mentioned that you couldn't see any real issue with any of the rubber there (cracking, major deformation, etc.) so that is probably fine.

A little bit of rotation of the driveline by hand is also normal - or at least, I've always been able to (as long as I don't leave it in gear). Likely what you're seeing (without seeing a video) is just some back-and-forth play, and not really "rotating" in any real sense of the word - i.e. you're not getting a quarter turn, or even an eighth, right? It just sort of wiggles each direction.

Edit: Through all of this though, u-joints could still be toast and causing the issues you're seeing. At least, that's where I'd start.

Edit 2: @Sicyota04 - you and @Logans2001 should chat, since you appear to both be having the same exact issue.

Sounds good thank you. Ya I’d like to just take it all apart myself and replace everything at once but I won’t have the time/tools/space to do that till October soooo might have to just let a shop do it..

Anybody have an idea of where I should start looking for the issue with this code? P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold
The check engine light comes on each time I drive it down to the beach and on the beach for about 20 miles or so. I have new plugs and wires, but it has a little bit of a shake at idle still. I clear the code each time and it comes back whenever we take it to the beach. Seems to run fine except for the small rough idle. It’s a 2.7L.

Check for exhaust leaks before your O2 sensors. If none then it's likely a bad cat.

I don’t know if the 420 code would cause rough idle, mine does that same though

I did have a new hanger put on at the muffler shop and had them check the system for leaks. Does it need to be an oem cat, or does it not matter?
