I think you mean the plastic wind shield/skirt found on the SR, Sport, and Limited trim (and I believe the trail edition surprisingly). All three of those don't have the skid plate like the OR has. You get either the wind shield/skirt or the skid plate. They don't come with both.

Did your SR5 also have the front plastic air dam thing as well?

Cray-cray. I stand corrected. Looks like things with these skids and air dams are changing each year.

If one of these would work for the OP, I have one that I got from a regional forum member to replace the dented one on my '15 Taco. ( they're the same piece, we held them up to verify before I purchased it) I think I paid $25 for it, you can have it for the same amount as I about to sell the truck to Car Max, so I won't bother swapping them out. I'm in Carroll County.

I'll bet someone just forgot to put it back on during an oil change.

A big difference in size when you go up to the actual skid plate. I bought this one off Amazon. It has given me some peace of mind if nothing else.

I replaced the splash guard with a RCI front skid which goes back and protects the tranny. I don’t do much serious stuff - but that one time- BAM - cheap insurance is my thinking.

I bought that same plate off eBay. I have not installed it yet. One of the short bolts on the bottom was loose in the box and I put it somewhere for safe keeping till I got to install it. Now I can't find said bolt. Unless someone knows what size bolt and washers I need looks like I'm taking off the other side and seeing if the hardware store has a match.

You can get the hardware info out of the skid plate instructions. Checkout pages 1 & 4.

Unsure if the Ebay plate would have the same hardware as the Toyota Skid.

Is that one of the Alibaba Chinesium copies?

If so, what's your evaluation of it? Price and link also, I'm like most Tacoma owners, I'm not going to be in a situation that I need real steel skids for protection against huge bolders. But driving "off road" in the Mid West means driving across some prairie grassland to a fishing hole or deer stand, 3 ft. grass can hide some shit you don't want to hit.

I did lightly hit an automatic transmission some asshole dumped on state park property, it must have been there for years half of it had sunken into the ground.

Thanks I'm going to guess the bolts are the same since it would bolt up the same way. the Amazon/ebay version that isn't marked TRD looks otherwise like an exact copy. The instructions are helpful too I was going to have to search for them.

I have the thin steel engine skid that comes with the SR5 on my truck now. I had the air dam too but took that off already. If someone wants my original plate after I install the trd knock off. you can have it free when I'm done with it. just come get it. That will be one less thing cluttering my basement. I'm going to try to swap the plates with in the next two weekends. I'm in york Pa.

I would install some for protection, you never know if I stump is under tall grass and you ripped off your undercarriage stuff...just saying. Then paint it whatever color you want...

Manchester, I could meet half way ( like Wegmans at Hunt Valley) but I see that you have a free one offered up, so I completely understand if you go that route.

I had to take the bolts off and put them in new locations anyways. I would tell you where the long and shorts go but can't remember. I guess I could back them out one at a time and let you know if you want.
