My favorite house in this development; I met the soon-to-be owners last night!

 

There is one preexisting house that was built in 2016-2017; This builder has built six new homes, and recently poured the foundation for the seventh, to be located on this lot…

 

5-ton Lennox Merit Series A/C unit at coworker’s new house…

 

Actually, these aren’t Toll Brothers or some other cheap shit; This is a smaller builder called Hallmark Homes and I think they quality is quite a bit better than that of the gargantuan McMansions that Toll Brothers is throwing up like two miles away…

 

And most importantly this builder isn’t using GoodShit, I mean Goodman, HVAC equipment!

 

Most of the houses in the development have dual-zone, at least from what I can tell; This one has all of the “plumbing” in, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the furnaces are in, but as you can see the air-conditioners have not been installed yet…

 

They started construction on this house first, and as such it was the first one to be completed; I found out last night that the owners have closed and now legally own the place, but they have not moved in yet…

 

For some reason I thought it was older…?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a house in this area built after about 1985 that did not have central air; The one exception was my uncle’s friend’s prefab built in the early 2000s. They could not afford central air if I remember correctly, but it had forced air heat and was thus plumbed for it…

 

Strange those houses all have one wall with almost no windows. Is there a reason for that?

 

My guesses would be because of the following…

For starters, the properties are so close together…

Second, my parents’ house came standard with no windows on the side where the air-conditioners are located, but they paid extra to have one in the living room. It’s all a matter of customer preference, and there some people who got the same floorplan as my parents but didn’t get any side windows, while some got multiple windows or even a bay window.

 

One thing you’ll also notice is that windowless walls are almost always on the side of the house where the central A/C units are located; Another theory is that they assume people don’t want to look out their window and see an air-conditioner…

 

Maybe it’s to avoid the noise of the AC?
